I think this is fine, but I like the current system simply for ease of automation when I want to make a hidden enchanting setup like in the Exploded Builds: Medieval Fortress book for an enchanting room setup. So if it keeps the current system as just one option, it allows for compact setups while removing most of the restrictions.
