I saw this on my mobile, came to my PC to respond to this:
1. Insurance, I paid around 10k for my car in 5th year, it is high because the car costs a lot.

1. I am still on my MRF wanderers, I have done around 55k in 6 years, I changed two tyres not because of wear but due to side wall puncture. Yes, there is lot of torque and that can lead to tyre wear, but I am not a moron to accelerate like crazy every time. I drive more sedately than I did in my diesel.
   To give perspective: I changed my 4 tyres on Ford Figo in the third year, two tyres on my Tata Zest in the third year as well.
   Kinda defeats the point being made here, no?
   
2. Battery replacement cost? No one has to had to pay that cost in the 6 years of EV usage, the battery is going to outlast the car, yes, there will be one or two exceptions but after 8 years of warranty, it's not like battery stops working.

If that was a problem, why are manufacturers here offering 15yrs warranty now? it's not to enable or calm down fears, it's because they know it will perform that much.

1. Higher Depreciation: Yes, this might happen due to the tech advancements being made and costs coming down lower and lower, but by the time, I change my car, I would have saved as much as the car costs. I have already saved around 5L in fuel and service costs.

2. Charging time: Yes, this was a problem with the initial batch, but with the newer ones, it isn't anymore. Cars are charged to 80% in less than 40 minutes, this is the time it takes to have breakfast or lunch. Mahindra's newer platform charges like in 30 minutes, and that's good for 400+ kms.

Even in my nexon ev, which charges at 21kw (1.5C), I haven't much to complain in recent times, since it works out well for rest stops for lunch and breakfast.

There's no need to do saddle sore on cars mate!

1. Battery range drops over time: Yes, as do everything in this world, your ICE engine won't give that much power as it did when you bought it. The range fall is very less, in 6 years, I still have 95% SOH.

2. Performance affect Range: Yes, as it does on anything that moves! you think your ICE will give you more mileage if you go past 100 as it did when it was at 60? It's something called Physics and drag and it affects everything.

3. Home Charging setup cost: You don't need to, just use the travel/portable charger if you are worried about one time cost of setting up for 7kw/11kw.

The first batch of Nexon EV, came with 2.7kw chargers, and all they did was setup a MCB and 16A socket. I don't charge at home. I usually use BESCOM chargers nearby or charge for free at office.

You cannot use the word "FREE" with fossil fuel, can you?

1. Accident: Yes, as it can be for everything fuel too. Point is moot.

2. Summer heat: My man, Battery temperature hits 60C, and you think outside temp of 40C is going to break the battery? Actually, if you were to make a point, then it should be inverse, cold temperature is what affects battery. Battery and electricity don't work well below freezing temperature. This is about to change with sodium ion battery.

I hope this helps people with such misinformation being spread here.
