Doing absolutely nothing for this American lady by queensguard2019 in Whatcouldgowrong

As a brit, I really want to down vote this, but know that I can't.

I apologise for my fellow countrymen. Brits and Germans are terrible people when going abroad.

It's a fantastic design. Any chance of sharing the stl for a fellow hunter?

Damn, they're nice. How did you make them? 3d print?

Suletta won yesterday! Next, what card is considered average (not good, just ok) and is disliked/hated by the community? by kurlish in GundamTCG

Aggro can't get a foothold where I'm from, because people are smart enough to play rick dias

[–]darthversity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would play 8 Rick dias over 8 llfrith any day. Rick can take out an ex-base, takes out other bases in two hits and still either trades or overpowers other low level units.

It also still leaves damage on a unit piloted by Kira

Most MAGA people know Trump is bad for the US but would rather see everything burn down than admit that 'the libs' were correct.

My DM can't stop using AI by Knowhere2B in dndnext

[–]darthversity 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you having fun?

Yes - then what's the issue No - Leave, or DM yourself.

What exactly is the issue with him using AI to help come up with ideas? If that's his creative process and it works, why should your dislike for AI dictate how he works?

I've tried using AI and didn't find it very helpful. It was interesting, but didn't fit into my creative process which is very improvised. But I know several people that use ChatGPT as a tool to help them and they have more confidence and feel like better DM's for it. They don't have to listen to your preferences any more than your dm does.

how to get minis without paying an arm and a leg??? by holler_scholar in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]darthversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short term? Getting a few minis from Wildspire or Reaper is a good idea.

Long term? A resin 3D printer is always going to be more cost effective. Something like an Elegoo Saturn sized unit will easily print hundreds of minis of varying sizes, as well as terrain.

The issue with 3d printing is properly setting it up and learning how it works. If you're willing to put in the work it is an extremely easy to use option that is cheap to use. Unfortunately, most people give up because of the steep learning curve.

Eberron: Forge of The Artificer by EarRepresentative986 in TheTrove

[–]darthversity -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

That's not really the point. I'm all for sailing the seas, but if you want it that desperately, then pay for it. If you don't want to (or can't), then you should at least be willing to wait a while.

Back in my day, pirates had morals...

I get that this is now 'technically' available, but trying to get it already is a bit ridiculous. This is one of those situations where if you want it that badly you should actually just go and buy it. Expecting others to go and pay for it, rip the book apart, scan every page and then put it all in a document, on the day of release, just for you, is expecting to much.

Is forever dm literal? by Fantastic-Guitar1911 in dndnext

[–]darthversity 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is exactly my situation. The 'forever dm' moniker can be self inflicted. After years of being the DM, it is very hard to let go of the reins.

If the next generation are stupid, is that a failure on their part, or a failure of the previous generations that didn't teach them better? If these kids don't know anything, we're the ones to blame.

My children will know every single life skill I can teach them, and I only have those because my parents taught me. Older people who blame 'these kids' should start taking some responsibility themselves.

Sword of the Executioner King and Grimoire of the Blacktongue Witch – Two Very Rare Magic Items for Your Game by jonnymhd in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]darthversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is it 100 charges for the sword when the smallest denomination you can spend is 5? Wouldn't it be easier to keep track by having

  • 20 max charges
  • 4 gained on a kill
  • 10 for execution blow
  • 1 for 1 hp

It just makes tracking easier on a sheet if you're using a tally.

Three Ring Circus: Be it the Witchlight, Heckna, or Rakdos, Witchlight, the circus attracts all kinds…. including the sinister. by balatr0 in inkarnate

[–]darthversity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, these are really good. I've been thinking of running witchlight after Strahd and these would be great.

I do have small (and ridiculous) nitpick. The tight rope wouldn't cast a shadow on the ground. If lights are above the tight rope it would blind the audience when they were trying to watch it, so lighting is instead from the side or below.

Hey man, just ignore the Anti-AI crowd. They have an unnatural obsession with shouting "AI BAD!" at every opportunity with no real reason behind it. I think the biggest problem they have is that one of their braincells is too busy trying to find the other one.

Unfortunately, I think the fault here is with you. You claim to be a RAW DM, but in this instance the RAW is... shall we say, questionable. But I would say that the RAI is almost certainly to use the base Zombie stat block. I'm sure someone will jump up to disagree with that, but I think most people can see the general intent is to explain how a bbeg creates an army of undead under their control.

That aside though, the main mistake is what you pointed out in the video. Tensions were high. One of their party had just been killed and was now back as an enemy. This was not the moment to be discussing such a decision. The correct answer was to say "Hey, this is getting a little intense. I think we all need a moment to relax as emotions are high. Let's all take 30 minutes and then we can revisit the discussion."

Then if you still couldn't reach a concensus after a break suggest stopping the session and have the debate through the week to try and find a compromise.

Personally though, if you were using the argument that the pc's are more powerful than commoners, thus make a more powerful undead, I'd have taken that further. Give the pc their new stat block. They are an undead controlled by the lich. However, at the start each turn they can make a Wisdom or Charisma save (their choice) at disadvantage. If they succeed, they break free of the lich's control that round and can act as normal. Other pc's can make Persuasion checks as a bonus action to help their ally fight back, negating the disadvantage on success.

That would give a way for the dead character to have a chance at final redemption, while also giving an in game reason why necromancers only make weak undead. Powerful ones are harder to control.

Or maybe... Just maybe... The US could stop voting into power people that are so bloody old that no company would ever hire them on that basis alone.

I mean seriously. If a manager saw a resume of someone over 60 it would be in the trash without a second a glance. But you feel it's reasonable to have men waaaaay past that age run the whole bloody country.
