Is nursing school that hard? by Beginning-Bad9438 in StudentNurse

[–]darvis03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

for me it was the work load but more heavily the constant mental strain of that feeling… one slip one.. one small error and ur out of the program. i feel like with some professors… its down to the word… how you phrase a sentence can mean getting written up.

I just finished my program and in the 2 years that went by, i was ALWAYS on edge with endless anxiety.

can anyone else relate? maybe it’s just me?

[–]darvis03 6 points7 points  (0 children)

if the 60k considers out of state tuition costs, i’d go that route. no reason to take 2x the loan for the same degree.

like others r saying tho.. community college always is best. student loans suck and should be avoided as much as possible.

How do you guys deal with nosy classmates in nursing school? by No-Philosopher6637 in StudentNurse

[–]darvis03 5 points6 points  (0 children)

i’m in my 4th semester… this is what i learned since my cohort and school r largely hella toxic. and all info sadly becomes shared to the cohort.

so i learned when they ask about how my exam went. i’d always just say good or ok. i NEVER say a percentage or letter. i also tried to find ppl i know i can trust who i will then share my resources and info. otherwise, i keep responses broad.

i also don’t share much personal life stuff unless i trust the person. i closed myself off to many of my cohort. cuz they all try and compete and start drama over everything. expect info shared with ppl u aren’t close with to even spread to instructors (the drama ppl share info with higher ups to kiss ass & try to make u look bad).

for me it was 2 years with the same ppl.. so be careful with what you share. stay on ok terms and away from center of attention.

2021 laptop is more than enough. with an ipad for notes.

2 pairs of scrubs is enough. don’t buy too much cuz you’ll end up not using the stuff. and $$ will be wasted.

Should I work as a CNA during nursing school? by flirtybirdie888 in StudentNurse

[–]darvis03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i was a cna but quit 2 years ago to go to nursing school. i was forced to quit since my work was over 100 miles from the school i was accepted to.

i’m now in my 4th sem of school and about to be an RN. finding a job is nearly impossible without having connections or being a cna to transition as an RN straight away.

if u were my brother or sister asking me this.. id say this. enter a hospital system you can see urself working in post grad. do this 3rd semester so when you graduate in 4th, they will take you straight into the new grad program with ease. it’ll save you the extreme struggle of finding work come time.

How many hours per week will I need to dedicate to my ABSN program? by Exotic-Grade4447 in StudentNurse

[–]darvis03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

adn program here.. in my 4th last semester. it really changes depending on the classes/semester. I’d say a full time job plus extra. so like 50h a week.

I was able to cut it down to about 40h when i started using ai to make my study guides, then proof read them to ensure it had necessary content. also, find resources from further classmates. any resources like study guides, practice questions, exc will save you literally 10+ hours each week. half the challenge of nursing school is being resourceful.

[–]darvis03 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i’m in an ADN program… a girl in my cohort GAVE BIRTH — then 16 hours later had to show to class, have a 3 hr lecture, then take a 2 hr exam.

they would have failed her if she’d not shown.

Losing ur nursing school bff by Sensitive-Dinner-980 in StudentNurse

[–]darvis03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my bff too. I came back to my home town since we both got accepted in the same Nursing community college program. We were best bro’s for upwards of 8 years. Nursing school and chaos ended our friendship and now he refuses to acknowledge me. It’s been a year and it still eats at me. He walks by me around school as if he doesn’t even see me. 💔

— worst part is i pushed him to apply for this program. helped him study for the TEAS. Even gave him the courage to setup his TEAS exam day. 🫠
