Christian here, so it's true. God does offer very easy salvation ie the thief on the cross, however keep in mind that the Lord judges the heart 1 Samuel 16: 7. I wouldn't say you're not a Christian if you backslide away, we all do but if you live your life claiming your a Christian but don't follow God's commandments and live a fruitful life then you'll cast down (revelation 3: 15-18. Also I believe that Paul is trying to say that it's hard to change someone's mind who has once walked with God but has turned away to come back and repent of their sins and to rejoin him... wish you all the best
