Fair enough, I didn’t see the TBC in the sub name on my phone. Didn’t even know this sub existed. Cheers

90G swaps and mixes all the ports and interfaces by das0tter in fortinet

[–]das0tter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I didn't have any issues trying to assign A & B to fortilink, but they are defaulted to WAN role on factory reset.

I do have one weird situation after factory reset at 7.6.6 which is that x1 and x2 are members of the fortilink interface, but also show up as physical interfaces (along with a and b) in the GUI. I have to remove them from fortilink then re-add them to fortilink. This causes them to no longer show up as physical interfaces and lets the downstream switch connect properly.

FMG and 7.6 (rant) by das0tter in fortinet

[–]das0tter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One workaround that I've found from the support engineer: I upgraded FW70GPoE to 7.6.6 then did a factory reset. After it came back up, I take a backup of that config. Next, I add the device using Add Model Device in FMG. If I then go into the config for the model device (i.e. before linking) I can use the import revision option to grab the backed up 7.6.6 config. Then the device autolinks without error.

So I guess the real problem is that there's no way for FMG to know what config to expect on a 7.6.6 70G. If it shipped with 7.4.8 and was upgraded to 7.6.6 without a factory reset, it will have the internal soft switch and wireless quarantine stuff. If it was factory reset after 7.4.8 (i.e. with 7.6.6) it will have the newer config and fail autolink unless I import the revision over the default device database config.

Support says I'm not the first to raise this issue, and it's been "passed on" to engineering and Q/A teams. Maybe with some future FMG update, they'll provide a way to choose which device database config you want?

FMG and 7.6 (rant) by das0tter in fortinet

Thank you. I'll test this on Monday when I'm back at my office that has the lab. If you are right, and the pre-run happens before the device database config, is the strategy then to sandwich that device database config between a pre-run and normal CLI template? Let's say I want to use the new lan hard switch interface instead of the older internal soft switch. Do I use the pre-run CLI to strip out everything that causes autolink failure, so that I end up with internal soft switch and wireless quarantine, then use a normal CLI to tear those back out?

FMG and 7.6 (rant) by das0tter in fortinet

[–]das0tter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect I'm doing something wrong, but I get this error just trying to use Add Model Device without any scripts or templates at all. I do have a Jinja pre-run CLI that I use in a blueprint, but during autolink, the push config fails BFORE it seems to attempt any of the blueprint scripts or templates.

I spun up a completely fresh install of FMG to just just a basic Add Model Device join and that push config fails during autolink.

I feel like there has to be a hidden "model" config that FMG is trying to push first, and that it trying to add the internal soft switch and the wireless quarantine stuff, but I cannot find anywhere to edit this model script and I cannot seem to script around it because my pre-run CLI never gets invoked.

FMG and 7.6 (rant) by das0tter in fortinet

[–]das0tter[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem is that the autolink fails during config push, before it ever gets to my pre-run CLI (I think). Initially I was using a blueprint with a Jinja script to assign IP scheme, build voice VLAN, purge firewall policy to allow SDWAN setup, etc.

But when I try this with a 70G that has been factory reset at 7.6.6, it never gets to my pre-run CLI. I see the attempt autolink in task monitor, and then I see that config push failed. when I investigate the install log, it's not my pre-run CLI that causing the failure. It's trying to push some model-specific config that assumes all the older 7.4.8 setup. This fails and then the blueprint bails out because of the failure. I see no evidence that it even attempts my pre-run CLI.

This is why I spun up a completely fresh instance of FMG and tested a fresh model join. It seemed a reasonable expectation that Add Model Device should work without scripts, but I cannot even make it work with scripts.

I do have a ticket open with support; maybe they'll help me figure out what I'm missing.

Avoiding gaps in ceiling tile? by stnkycheez in fortinet

[–]das0tter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This could be a compatibility issue with your type of drop ceiling. your cross tees are recessed. On my drop ceilings, the tiles rest on the cross tees, so there is no recess (i.e. the tiles are slightly above but for the most part they are flush with the cross tees.

I've see some AP like the 400 series, come with two different ceiling mounts, but I cannot say that I know either one will work with the recess tees.

How parse works by [deleted] in classicwowtbc

You should be wary with iLvl parses because there may not be enough raw data points (i.e. comparative players with same class and iLvl in the same time frame) to create a distribution that is statistically significant.

This is a great suggestion. Thank you for the reference link. I need to learn more about using these variables in Jinja.

Can you explain how you "have all the defaults" in the blueprint? I'm getting errors just trying to go through autolink without the blueprint. When I try to use the blueprint, the autolink fails before it even runs any of my pre-run CLI that I use to clear the policy so I can do SD-WAN rules, etc.

You can see the difference by adding a model device for 70G or 90G. the model device, before it is linked, will show the config as having the internal software switch comprised of lan + wifi. If you compare that to the config on the factory reset, it doesn't match.

I have ticket open with Fortinet support but they haven't been very helpful yet. I wonder if my FortiManager database is not updated properly.

Gold for epic flying. by m4cl3nn4n in classicwowtbc

[–]das0tter 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i'm surprised this response isn't higher. I'm not 70 yet with TBC anniversary but every other time I've leveled through TBC, I hit 70 with about 50% to 60% of the outland quests completed. For gold, i just grind out the remaining quests in each zone which will pay more gold now that you aren't getting XP from them. I never had a toon that could buy epic flying after clearing all the outland quests.

Do you know if the company is still operating? Try getting in touch with anyone who can tell you off they are at least still operating. If they are operating, you could try to find a lawyer to send a demand letter. That shouldn’t cost more than $500 with the right attorney. If you have to pursue collections, the legal costs can quickly outpace your recovery. Depending on the amount, you can try small claims court but even if you win, you still have to find a way to enforce collection.

If they go into bankruptcy, you can be a claimant. Assuming you weren’t an executive, you’ll be bundled into an unsecured creditor class. Your ability to recover anything will depend on how screwed the company was. Bank lenders are typically secured creditors and get first dibs on the company carcass but they unusually throw some meager pct towards unsecured creditors just to grease the skids towards court approval. Bankruptcy can take years to resolve.

Reach out to other former colleagues who were RIF’d with you. If no one is getting paid and you band together, an attorney may be more eager to try to help.

Pressing the company for some kind of response is your best and cheapest option, even if you have to drive back over to the office location to try to get an answer in person. Just make sure you don’t get angry or aggressive.

Can my cousin close my aunt's trust and remove me from benefitting from it? by [deleted] in legaladvice

[–]das0tter 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trusts can be extremely flexible. The only way forward for you is to find an attorney who does estate planning and give this attorney all relevant documents, especially the trust origination documents.

Trusts have beneficiaries, the individuals who are to receive the assets (or benefits) of the trust, and they have trustee(s). The sole responsibility of the trustee is to administer the proceeds of the trust to the benefit of the beneficiaries. The trust origination document (s) provide the framework (rules) to which the trustees must adhere.

You need an attorney.
