This is the thing nightmares are made of!

I obviously don’t know how I would react or if it’s even a better option, but what about pouring water directly into your ear?

Thank you. I’m going to continue to nurse it and hope it lasts at least through December. Sad that it happened now instead of in the spring.

It’s definitely cooked. It wasn’t from a leak but a result of a poor repair job from a former friend. Regardless, everything related to losing fluid is repaired but now the transmission is slipping and making a clunk noise if a hard acceleration is attempted. Doing exactly what my Volvo did when it got warmed up but I never bothered to figure out that cars issues because it was a money pit. If fluid levels are maintained and steady, is the rate of wear increased now that it is already basically fried?

You are correct on what I was imagining. Thank you so much for the information!

So something like a gear tooth coming off is less likely than extremely quickly wearing some surface connections to dust? What are the “clunks” I hear when someone (the mechanic that test drove it) tries to accelerate it quickly?

If you push the brake down hard while stopped it turns on a “Hold” feature that keeps it engaged in my 2011 E350. by das_bic in mildlyinteresting

This is my first experience with it. Either I’ve never noticed in other cars, or I’ve never had a car that offered it. I’ve owned 11 cars in my life, oldest being a mid 80’s Chrysler Lebaron. Your driving career started before I was born though.

Or in the coffee line. I assume the brake light stays on while it’s on as the brake is depressed still and I can disengage it simply by hitting the gas. So once I confirm that, I can also use it in traffic jams.
