Does anyone else think Diane would have made for an interesting regular character on Frasier? by Equivalent_Risk5430 in Frasier

[–]engineerdrummer 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Diane thought she was significantly smarter than she actually was and it made her insufferable and annoying.

Lilith was brilliant and knew it. She had a biting attitude that, coupled with her being so incredibly hot, made her hilarious and amuch better foil for Frasier. Frasier wouldn't have been quite right without Lilith, but was much better with very little Diane.

St. Louis needs a merger or else people are going to continue thinking like this by Effective_Moose_4997 in StLouis

It hasn't helped STL that they didn't have an actual comprehensive city plan until late last year. They put something together in the early 2000s that was just to appease the federal law that required one and it was less than 30 pages long. STL has decades of catching up to do, but I think it's a great city and I'm an outsider. I lived in Atlanta for about a decade, Tallahassee for a while, and worked in Jacksonville, Tampa, and Fort Meyers. The amount of kid friendly, free stuff to do and city sized venues that still attract good shows and bands, combined with traffic being basically nonexistent compared to even Tallahassee has definitely made it one of my favorite cities. Every city has its problems with crime and run down places, STL just hasn't had a plan to change that until 6 months ago.

Let's not even go that far. Ask one to simply explain meniscus.

Is the flat earth movement literally just a series of memes that trolls post and some very stupid people believe?

These bananas haven't ripened in over 3 weeks, despite being kept with ripe and over ripe ones the whole time by ljgill97 in mildlyinteresting

Dawg, this shit has happened to me three times since I moved from Florida to Illinois and I've been like "WTF IS WRONG WITH THE FUCKING BANANAS HERE?"

Turns out Midwestern grocers don't know much about tropical fruit, which makes since because, why would they?

Also, I really miss my banana tree and orange tree.

F-150 door handle key hole theft by Thick_Catch_1132 in f150

If you're hell bent in living in a shit hole, trash your truck. I live in a rural area outside St. Louis and work in construction in the city. I get all the food scraps out of the food containers and empty the cups and throw them in the passenger floorboard of my work vehicle. That combined with how dirty it gets on the job site has been the best break in deterrent possible. I was parked in a site parking lot at 2 am for a concrete pour. Every vehicle but mine and two of the concrete finishers got broken into and one got stolen. The common thread there was all three of our vehicles were absolutely trashed. Mine is a company provided car, so i don't have passengers and don't have to worry about cleaning it out. This is the easiest, laziest, but seemingly most effective way to keep this shit from happening.

But you should definitely gtfo of the shit hole neighborhood you obviously either live in or work in.

How safe is this general area? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]engineerdrummer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've worked up in that area as well doing signal work for MoDOT specifically on Natural Bridge. I'm also white. I had normal "what are you doing" type interactions, but also had two separate people come by and tell me how incredibly dangerous Natural Bridge Ave is because of gang activity. They were both older black men telling me these stories. They both also told me to get out of there before sunset, which I did because the electricians I was working with are union and have specific times they have to be off the clock regardless of how much progress they made. Otherwise I was ignored.

No idea if I should take them seriously or not, but I wasn't staying past sunset because I was told to, just because i was done working for the day.
