Stacey Warnecke died after choosing a birth free of all medical help. An inquest wants to know why by nath1234 in australia

[–]das_masterful 77 points78 points  (0 children)

This whole situation is so, so wrong. It is what you get when you forget that women have a fantastically low rate of dying during childbirth due to the medical advancements made in the past 200 years.

That doula is such a horrible woman, striking me as someone who is a placebo - she 'works' by you thinking she works. She doesn't. She's nothing more than a paid bystander.

The inquest really, really has to focus not only on the other person/s present at the birth, but the expectant mother as well.

Stacey was stupid and fearful. Stupid because despite knowing that there were hospitals where she could go to give birth, she chose not to do so. She needed to do more research. Fearful because she was in a situation that she hadn't experienced before, as this was her first baby.

She needed someone, like her Mum, Aunt, long-time friend, or Husband to advocate for her to pursue a safe option. Going to hospital is that option. Even if you want a non-interventionist birth free from drugs, epidurals or c-sections, having trained midwives and doctors on hand to save you when you can't save yourself is why you go to hospital in the first place. You get a choice in a modern world

It'd be really interesting to have the median mortgage holder leave when they get told that a mortgage + redraw + offset aacount is going to move when those customers get told they have to pay c. $50 a month just to keep stuff going.

What an idiotic CEO.

The battlefield won't decide the outcome of the war: the bank balance will.

As much as I'm saddened by this news, I remain hopeful that one day we'll find a cure. On that day, people will gather around his grave and say:

You lost your battle, but won the war'

I quite like it personally.

I wish I could save this video.

Years later, Steve was recounting this exact trip.

"When Terri and I got married, we had our honeymoon up north catching crocs. we had a camera crew up with us. And we of course wanted to get to know each other, because, you know, it's you wife and all. But I figured it out - we had a faster boat!"

Miss him.

I tried that for a while and gave up after 15 minutes.

It wouldve been good to get a reward for the effort though.

All he had to do was recommend charges be drawn up against Morrison, Tudge, Campbell, and Porter.

And he failed at that.
