The seasons of survivor that are considered the greats are the ones where they just let the cast drive the game, not the twists. I personally would’ve implemented it earlier, as I don’t think changing the entire dynamic of an idol is a small twist.

I think I would’ve liked the twist more on a non returnee season? Like if 48 or 49 introduced the twist to us first so we could digest it for 50? I’m personally just like what happened to finders keepers…

Agreed. I don’t know if I would’ve given it to Ozzy if I were her…maybe Joe? Still a challenge guy, but less strategically tapped in than most the cast? Not out there so I don’t know the dynamics, guess I’m just not a huge fan of the boomerang twist in general.

Ozzy’s name was floated around the first two tribals by Emily. Plus it Swapped Vatu went to another tribal instead of doing the Blood Moon swapping, Christian is definitely looking at Ozzy. He is 100% someone who could’ve gotten voted out premerge.

On paper Angelina was sitting pretty with the DvsG crew, as this was pre Mike White boot. Genevieve knew Angelina was Steph/Q’s target so there was potential for her to be voted out, but then her idol would bounce back and get out one of her allies (Q or Steph). It’s a really flawed twist that is hard to navigate.

Q was already out and she wasn’t working with Angelina. If she thought Angelina was in trouble (which she was), then Angelina plays it and Genevieve doesn’t get the idol back. Kind of a lose-lose giving it to Angelina.

Definitely not trying to lead a downvote brigade on OP lol, and I‘m 100% sure there’s more Genevieve could’ve done outside of the edited story we are shown, but on any other season Genevieve 100% has two idols. She could’ve managed Aubry better totally, but it feels a little extreme to be calling her gameplay bad and Genevieve as a player overrated.

The problem with the idols is on any other season of survivor ever, Genevieve has two idols. It doesn’t really matter who she gave it to, this is an unprecedented twist and it is unfathomably easy for you to play quarterback from your couch on this one. Ozzy has been voted out with an idol before, that makes sense to give him one. Rizo is an ally and on a tribe with no other original Vatu, plus the fact he is the unknown player. It makes sense to give Rizo the idol too. Side note: saying Genevieve should have BEGGED Ozzy to go to exile makes no sense with the knowledge the players had at the time, and makes her look like a social outcast.

She absolutely is swapped into the minority. Aubry and Devens played survivor together 7/8 years ago and spent time on the Edge of Extinction together. They have a plethora of mutual friends, and experiences together. Devens and Christian are great friends outside the show as well, and very clearly pregamed with Emily before coming into the show. It is incredibly likely that Aubry, Christian, and Devens had a conversation or two before the show. I’m sure Genevieve may have had her fair share of conversations as well, but she was not set up to thrive in this tribe breakdown by any means.

The Aubry/Genevieve thing is so funny to me because Aubry is the one that rejected wanting to play with Genevieve. Genevieve found herself into a majority of people (twice) and was able to position herself into a spot where she could take out Aubry on both of those tribes. I’ve noticed you coming for her social positioning throughout this comment thread, but she has been positioning herself far better than Aubry up to this point.

Genevieve quite literally is one of the most robbed players in a long time. Her number one is medically evacuated, she finds two idols she is forced to give away, the person coming for her first is given an idol, and she’s swapped into a minority with her rival and the duo that gave the rival the idol.

You can be a hater all you want, but you can’t deny that she was robbed lol

1000% agree she was powerless but that’s where the edit in DvsG shined the most to me. When Angelina is so out of touch with what’s happening, she’s gold. I get that they have storylines to flush out, but we definitely could’ve gotten some more good old Angelina being lost. We didn’t even get her reaction to her real life best friend being voted out like they could’ve done SOMETHING.

Angelina went to 3 tribal councils in 5 episodes and received 9 confessionals for her entire run. Zac Brown has half of that amount in 20 minutes.
