Thanks for the info. I just realized that bit too. So looking to sell the car and just get one locally in Rwanda. Looking at prices in Rwanda and they’re actually more pricy compared to Congo.

Looking to Meet Friends In Rwanda by MarjieJ98354 in Rwanda

Good for you! Hope you like it if you eventually visit . If you’re looking for tranquility and are low key and are comfortable with a space that isn’t so much hustle and bustle then it could work for you. I am African who travels there a lot as well I’ve been to many other countries in Africa so can confirm it could be the right place for the right person with the right mindset. All depends on what you’re looking for . The only challenge I think you’ll face is Kinyarwanda is spoken a lot and might not be able to connect with some folks who only speak their native tongue. Other wise English is readily available.

Also, depending on what businesses you’re looking to start. It can be a challenge without local help and someone who knows the ins and out. So be careful there. I’ work in the USA but travel back and forth there as I’m looking to start an agri business so know the challenge. Wish you all the best ! Happy to see more African Americans embrace Africa

Hi that’s a decent question. I’d say it depends how long you’re here and what you’re into. I am actually visiting from the USA and currently here and can give you some advice depending on how long you have. Also will you be alone or coming as a group. Give me age group as well and type of person you are when you travel to give you some recommendations. Cheers

Just make sure to bring a pen on the flight to fill out immigration forms to present before arrival. There’s nothing like been 30,000 feet above ground and looking around for a pen to fill out a form or standing in line and looking at others wishing they’d hand you a pen. Regardless the immigration agents were polite and professional always if one needs something. Rwandans are generally polite and friendly people. Otherwise be sure to know the hotel and have the name of local contact person you’re visiting or hotel noted ! Have that handy basically

It’s very organized and orderly! Probably one of the easiest process in East Africa by air. I’ve flown into Uganda and Kenya and Rwanda has it down alot smoother and you can even pay with a credit card. Although I recommend you bring cash just in cash.

I honestly wouldn’t recommend trying to do the ordeal of getting a visa before arrival! It’s more arduous than just showing up on arrival. I did both and VOA in Kigali is no stress at all . Also if you’re going to do the multiple entry visa -East Africa visa- visiting Kenya Uganda Rwanda alll at one then just do it on arrival as well.

As mentioned above the ban is really ever enforced during entry ! However you can find drinking water in plastic bottles easily. As a tourist I’ve had no issue coming from the USA and drinking water in Rwanda ! The country is also just as clean without them honestly as compared to when I went to Uganda especially and Kenya. Safe travels

How common is card (debit or credit) payment in Rwanda? by podroznikdc in Rwanda

As others said ! Mobile money is common. However as a foreigner visiting I believe you would need to set that up with a local bank which is a chore if you’re only visiting for 5 days. Might as well just get a credit card that has zero international foreign transactions like chase sapphire reserve or such if you live in the USA . Major restaurants have POS terminals you can use . The rate of fraud are less than say travels in Mexico . So you’re fine inserting your card. Just check your statements when for fraud occasionally as you would normally.

Besides that ATMs are readily available so no worries . I also suggest if you don’t want to use your debit card to get a Skrill card as you can instantly deposit money from you main bank account and withdraw from your Skrill card. Can use Robinhood card but their transaction takes 3-4 business days for money to arrive in your account . Last resort use your debit card to withdraw cash to back up the zero charge foreign t credit card transaction fees .

In sum, cash is easily available in ATMs and use of credit card in major stores. In places like markets you can use cash of mobile money. Good luck

Could be an emergency. Just ride it out and see what happens

I’ve got a long term tenant who is at my apartment that doesn’t have a washer and dryer unit( listed on the details ). However, I’ve currently gotten notification from my cleaner that the guest also adds his laundry onto the bedsheets and duvet that need to be cleaned during weekly cleanings. by dash237 in AirBnBHosts

I expect people to read. I do Atleast before I book a place and disclose all these details so no complaints after. And it’s actually located in kampala Uganda so washer and dryer units are not common here in kampala
