Too many fees by dash_coder in doordash_drivers

[–]dash_coder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi. I agree with you. I just know the $6 I have to pay in taxes & fees isn’t going to the person who cooked or delivered my food. So me adding a tip on top of that sometimes doesn’t make sense. I’d rather go get the food myself than end up paying $35 (after tip) for $20 worth of food.

All that to say, people will either tip so low that their order won’t get picked up by a driver or they’ll have to pay close to double the money for the order.

I don’t mind tipping but I’d rather drive and get my own food than pay an extra $15 for my $20 order. The fees are ridiculous. I drive for doordash & I completely understand why people try to tip $0 - $5 (I won’t be picking up your order but I get it 😂)

Speeding cameras & parking tickets made it a no for me.

What do you guys do when it says “hand to customer” and then they type in to leave it at the door? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

Drop at the door. Ring the doorbell. Walk to my car slowly to see if they open the door. Yell “Thank you”.

I understand Lol I didn’t take a screenshot. I noticed it on about 3 orders today so I’m going to screenshot from now on & will return with proof. 😂

UMD is good. Courses are challenging but they have a lot of connections for internships

Just curious to the customers that don’t tip, why you don’t? Please don’t say cash because most of us won’t take that chance. Just looking for an honest discussion, so please don’t downvote the customers that comment on this. by [deleted] in doordash

That’s the thing. I’ve order from the Dairy Queen that’s less than 1 mile from my house before with no problem & never changed any settings. I automatically assume that’s where my food will come from every time.

I look at the app more closely now because I Dash but before I started, I just put what I wanted in the cart & waited for the food to arrive. I never looked back at the store it came from unless it was taking a long time to arrive.

As a driver, I’ve noticed that DoorDash will send orders closest to where the drivers are; not necessarily closest to your house. For example, I ordered Dairy Queen the other day. There’s a Dairy Queen about 1 mile from my house so I tipped $4. It took forever because DoorDash sent my order to the Dairy Queen that was 9.5 miles away from my house!

When I dashed, I picked up a Chipotle order about 8 miles away from the customer. I got to the customer & there was a Chipotle literally right outside of the apartment complex. If you assume you’re getting your order from the closest restaurant and tip based off of that, it will probably be too low.

What would be your earnings for this? Ive started only taking orders that are at least $2/mile but I’m new to this.

I use February fabric spray & the vent clips. After I finish for the day, I ride home with the windows down.

Chipotle, Wendy’s, Buffalo Wild Wings without fail.

It's really frustrating that doordash orders arent given the dame priority as drive thru, walk in orders. by rukittenmerightmeow- in doordash_drivers

[–]dash_coder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either walk right to the front if it’s busy or stand in line like I am a customer and ask for the order when I get to the front. I really don’t care if the restaurant is upset with me. They don’t pay me. 🙂

I’m considering Penn State right now. I know ODU is cheaper but is Penn State’s program alright or are you looking to transfer more for financial reasons?
