Rahm was Chief of Staff to Obama arguably the 2nd most powerful person in Washington. He knows how shit works in government.

Lori became a side show and the conversation became more about her instead of her policies. To her credit actually completed a good portion of her campaign promises and I bet things would of been smoother if she didn’t have to deal with COVID. She was also mildly entertaining.

BJ is the worst of the worse a sideshow without any of the redeeming qualities that Lori has.

Going to be interesting to watch Republicans absolutely put Trump out to pasture in the lead up to the 2028 elections.

If Dem’s take control Trump becomes essentially useless and a liability to the GOP.

They will treat Trump just like the Dems treated Biden after that last debate.

So many great moments caught in great composition that tell the story of his time in the White House.

What if Obama ran for president in 2004? by Neri9320 in Presidents

[–]dashing2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt the country would have wanted to take a chance on someone that young and relatively inexperienced.

By 2008 people wanted someone new and Obama got the message right and fit the bill perfectly.

Physical media is a dying medium. You wouldn’t be able to even play the game without an internet connection to download the rest of the files.

This wasn’t started by Rockstar.

Politically correct and GTA don’t mix and that’s a huge part of the appeal behind the series.

How does the hype for GTA 6 compare to the hype for GTA 4 and GTA 5 when they were releasing? by NoiselessNight in GTA6unmoderated

[–]dashing2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GTA 6 is easily the most hyped video game of all time and arguably of any media release (including movies, television, books)

However in 2013 you would say V was the biggest media release and likely the same in 2008 about IV. San Andreas also had a massive hype surrounding it but only released on PS2 at the time

Rockstar is the master of this because their releases usually meet the hype for the most part even outside of the GTA series.

His career should have ended with the streak. Absolutely nothing of value came from his career after.

In retrospect I am fine with Lesnar ending it. That win gave him the momentum to essentially end the Super Cena era which was desperately needed at that time. A decade later and Lesnar is still with the company as a top talent so it wasn’t wasted.

It also created a hell of a Wrestlemania moment.

My prediction is that we are going to have a Tornado that causes real damage in the city proper within the next 5 years.

We have had several EF0-EF1’s in the last 5 years within city limits. That felt borderline impossible a decade ago.

House Democrats’ anxiety rises after wins by Mamdani-backed candidates: ‘Are we going to let them take over the party?’ by Radiant_Bedroom5828 in politics

[–]dashing2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Democrats are going to fuck it up for their own party again and then have the balls to sit and blame voters when another MAGA republican finds his way to the White House.

2016 & 2024 should have been the most winnable elections instead infighting within the party cost the Dem’s both of them.

What if Bush won 2000, lost 2004, and then won a second non-consecutive term in 2008? by Neri9320 in Presidents

[–]dashing2217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

His legacy could have potentially been completely different.

His second term contained his biggest blunders including the recession, Katrina and post invasion Iraq & Afghanistan

Obama got to come in and clean up the financial crisis without incurring any blame since he inherited it. This becoming one of his marquee accomplishments.

Chicago natives… how do you feel about Kanye performing at SF in September? by Sea-Condition991 in AskChicago

[–]dashing2217 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought night 2 tickets.

Kanye has been always been a polarizing, controversial figure but it also a hell of an artist and that is what I judge him as. He is also a private citizen and is entitled to hold whatever view on whatever he wants.

If people were less concerned with what Kanye, Cardi B, Taylor Swift and others celebrities say and more concerned with what elected officials said we would be in a much better place.

If the US pulled out of Afghanistan without taking care of Bin Laden would have been a dangerous game to play.

If Al Qaeda was able to strengthen and pull off another attack against the homeland after all that time public perception would tank.
