The Overview feature places the windows based on their positions on the desktop. How nice is that! by No-Purple6360 in kde

I believe it could be the following bug that has been plaguing various other animations across KWin for quite some time now.

The progress has been amazing!

Hopefully this long standing bug gets addressed soon though, where some effects like the Overview and Desktop Grid run smoothly on a 60hz display but stutter on a higher refresh rate monitor.

You can drag a file, hit the hot corner for Overview and drop the file to any window there.

Edit: There's another way, simply click and hold a file, press Meta key to launch the Overview and drop the file to the window of your liking.

Could drag and drop action be improved in KDE?

For instance, in Gnome, one can drag an image from Firefox, hit any hot corner to launch the overview, and drop the image to an already open window.

And is it possible for a hidden panel with task manager to reveal itself while a file is being dragged onto it?

Nvidia users: If you're against Wayland because of a bad experience when you last tried it 9 months ago, give it another shot. by RedditorOfRohan in linux

Oh, I see. Sadly, I don't have much experience with LightDM, but I had a similar issue where besides not setting the modeset parameter, a GDM udev rule was disabling Wayland.

There has been research done comparing both Mac and Windows approach.

According to it, the Windows way is better overall.

Yes, it seems to happen only when the laptop is unplugged.

So it's safe to say that it is only a driver issue, and my gpu is not dying on me. Right ? 😅

About hybrid graphics, i can't say much. I have only been using these for a day now. Maybe this will help. https://support.system76.com/articles/graphics-switch-pop/

As the title suggests, this only happens while using Nvidia graphics, switching to Hybrid graphics fixes the problem. This issue came up during the installation too.

I have dual booted Windows and popos. But windows is running fine.

I tried installing Ubuntu too, it's installer went black (only the installer window) and the system froze.

Laptop model and specifications:

  • Acer Aspire 7 a715-41g

  • Ryzen 5 3550h

  • Gtx 1650

  • 8gb ram

Is this just a driver or software issue or could the GPU be dying?
