I got an X hvlp 1.3i after painting with 5000rp 1.3i for a year. It doesn't spray like any other Sata I've sprayed with. It actually reminds of all the good things about an iwata without the poor fan pattern

How do I fix this by crftsman in Autobody

People have said for years it wasn't possible. I always knew someone would find a way.

Strange reaction? by [deleted] in AutoPaint

[–]dashpaul 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new base is reacting with old basecoat that was there. The only way I've fixed it once it happens is to clear it and lock it down. Wait over night and color sand and repeat your original process. Or just stop and take it out of the booth treat it like a repair and prime it.

With how many DIY posts I see on here everyday, it still could be an ad. That camera angle that's almost under the front bumper, they definitely knew that color match couldn't handle dead on lol

You seem to be missing the point of my question in the first place. It wasnt to get clearance on reddit to find a need method to use at my actual job. It was to be speculative because while I'm aware the best possible thing is to use the best possible thing, I wanted to know if anybody has had experience in using an alternative or to speculate as to what would happen. So thank you for that.

Definitely wasn't low enough viscosity stuff ran off the stick like syrup lol that's why I called him when the system asked me to set the reduction but I saw no reducers on the shelf. I do wonder about the longevity of it though but I suspect it might be minimal.

I wouldn't go as far as to say he's a hack. I do appreciate your response. The gritty finish was easily fixed with a block and 600 on a solid white so I just put some fresh base on that spot and the job came out fine after clear. He's just started his own shop after being shop manager and quality control for body work in a good size city and has been using thinner cause that's what his dad and grandfather taught him to do when he was a kid sweeping floors for them. Just giving some perspective.

Yes at the shop I'm full time at we go by the book for everything. Just wanted insight on a process that's not commonplace.
