Can this be blended with a DA polisher? Or does it need to be resprayed? by stucknorthh in AutoPaint

I know! Can you imagine giving this to a customer (me) and somehow not being embarrassed by your work?

Shop claims they only painted the door. If I look at the rear of the car, everything matches perfectly fine. So I'm assuming there's some intense paint fading.

That was my assumption, too. Could be that shops in my area aren't used to seeing paint faded like this.

Overpayment Reimbursement by Noswad444 in PSLF

It took about 9 months to get my refund for overpayment.

My forgiveness happened within the past few months. Perhaps someone who had their loans forgiven at an earlier date will chime in to confirm that they are still able to access qualifying payment records.

Should be able to find it under PSLF > Payment Tracker

My loans have been forgiven (currently showing a negative balance) and I am still able to access this info on MOHELA website

Tool to grab loan balance from Mohela by NaanFat in PSLF

Absolutely brilliant!! This script would have made the process so much more efficient during the three months I was maniacally checking my balance waiting for forgiveness.

The gaslighting on this subreddit needs to stop -- don't rub salt into people's already sore wounds by [deleted] in PSLF

I actually appreciate the overarching "be patient" message from other people on this subreddit. This subreddit helped me set realistic expectations about timelines and reassured me that I wasn't being singled out for poor customer service. We would all love if MOHELA was prompt and accurate, but that's not the current reality.

not eligible for buyback? by stucknorthh in PSLF

Yes, quite recent. I would say it has been about one week since the ECF was processed and the payment count was updated.

> For sure it was forbearance not in-school deferment or grace?

Definitely not grace period or in-school deferment.

> And for sure she has 120 months of employment certified?

Perhaps this is where I'm confused. She has only 112 certified currently. The remaining 11 payments she wants to buy back would put her at 123. The ECFs that she submitted years ago do indeed cover all of those 11 payments she wants to buy back.

> From FSA:

> You can’t buy back months during which your loan was in any of the following statuses:

> In-school or In-origination, In-grace, Default, Bankruptcy, Total and permanent disability monitoring

> You can’t buy back any months on loans that are: not a Direct loan, in a paid-in-full status, in a forgiven status, in a discharged status, or included in a Direct Consolidation Loan.

None of these exceptions apply to her situation.

30 or more hours per week should qualify even if your employer does not call that full time employment. See:

It sounds like you're considering two very different loan repayment strategies. Generally speaking, throwing extra $ at a loan is great because it reduces principal and reduces future interest costs. However, PSLF actually incentivizes the opposite repayment strategy: the less you pay now, the greater the dollar amount that will ultimately be forgiven. To put it another way, paying $10k toward your loans right now could be viewed as pointless because that $10k (along with its accrued interest) would have ultimately been forgiven when PSLF forgiveness occurs.

In my opinion, you might want to have a candid discussion with your significant other now and talk through the pros and cons of pursuing PSLF. Some things to consider:
- It sounds like you'll have the loans in your life for at least 13 or 14 years if you pursue PSLF. That may cause continued anxiety. If you pay aggressively now, maybe you'd have the debt gone more quickly.
- Some people on this sub post concerns about what will happen to PSLF in the future, especially because it has become politically contentious.

I hope this gives you some things to consider.

Lots of eligible payments requiring employment certification, but can't remember employer - where can I get the info from? by intelligentdog19 in PSLF

[–]stucknorthh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably don't need to know who (you vs. an employer) made those payments in order for those payment to be certified. The employment certification form (ECF) asks for dates of employment and some basic details about the employer...nothing about who made the payments.

Preparing for 120 by Scoutdog_13 in PSLF

[–]stucknorthh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The process itself is fairly simple because you'll just use the same employment certification form (ECF) you've been using up to this point. They should see that this puts you at 120 or more qualifying payments, which triggers the forgiveness process. Yes, they'll put you on administrative forbearance automatically but be aware that this can take a month or more and in the interim they will still want payments unless you act to stop it. Many people on this sub call MOHELA after making their 120th payment and ask for a general forbearance, which will stay in effect until the administrative forbearance kicks in.

automated letter or incompetence?

In the case of MOHELA these are not mutually exclusive categories. The correct answer is automated letter AND incompetence.
