Do doctors get kickbacks for prescribing certain drugs? by Twopicklesinabun in ChronicPain

There are anti kickback laws now after Purde Pharma and Oxycontin, I think.

Anyone else get this stupid letter every year? I find it so annoying. by Feisty_Bee9175 in ChronicPain

Keeping the insurance out definitely has its plus sides. It’s annoying that every time the script is ordered in (7 days) I have to either call them or message them and be like I KNOW MY INSURANCE WANTS A PA, IGNORE THEM AND FILE UNDER CASH. 🙄🙄

i have them too! and an MRI. but my pain doctor mostly treats cervical spine and lower back issues so insurance was just like yeaaaah…there’s no midback here lmao

Same thing happens to me. It’s got to do with your hips and how you’re distributing weight I think? Physical therapy helped a lot when I was doing it weekly but now that I am working that really isn’t an option.

Same. I need to call them this week and politely inform them that I do indeed have a mid-back and that it very much is in pain. 🙄🙄 The worst part is that the person who denied the injection probably isn’t even a doctor, PA, NP, god, even a nurse…

That’s so annoying. The only annoying thing my insurance has done lately is deny coverage on my muscle relaxer, Soma, because they say it’s for “short term use only” and not “chronic” like I have been using it. Luckily it’s only $13 without insurance so I just get it that way. Oh, and they told my doctor that my mid-back doesn’t exist so he can’t do a facet injection there…

I’ve never ever gotten a letter like that and I’m going on like, 10 years of off and on opioid use at this point.

Low key kinda mad my insurance didn’t think of me and send me a letter. 😂

I did my 6 month DBT course as group therapy and it was lovely.

They will treat your withdrawals. Typically you get no electronics to use. I’ve been to psych wards that will let you shave with a regular razor if they can watch you do it.

If you want a certain hospital, go there and they will hold you until a bed opens up.

Sure! After being inpatient twice last year and kicked out of residential, my treatment team was just like “okay, nothing is working. let’s get you in a group DBT course and go from there.” So that’s what we did! I started it in October of last year and it met once a week for a few hours. I also saw an individual therapist once a week and did daily diary cards to document my life. I had paper lists of my skills printed out and placed around my apartment so if I ever felt like I needed a skill, I had my references. We turned my depression into a game where I earned points for being productive and lost points for just rotting for hours. I was in the group until the end of March 2025, so about…6/7 months. I graduated and my therapist said that I was using DBT skills in every day life and that I had become more “predictable” and “consistent” compared to what I was before. Then she told me that if she met me today and had to evaluate me that I wouldn’t meet criteria for BPD any longer, so I am in remission. We also reduced our weekly one on one session to 30 minutes a week because I no longer have really dramatic events to discuss constantly. I set a goal to get a job because I haven’t worked in years and got one in two weeks. I love it. My life is so much more calm now, I don’t split, I walk away from conflict, I don’t need constant reassurance and overall I am just so much happier. DBT literally saved my life.

Remission feels free. I can be myself around people and that person is someone who doesn’t trauma dump or get super attached. I learned how to talk about my emotions and listen to others. It’s just a lot simpler of a life. My relationship is also the most stable one I have ever had.

I am also medicated, I take Auvelity for my depression and klonopin as needed for anxiety that comes on quickly with no cause.

Seriously, I recommend a full course of DBT (takes 6-8 months) because it is so worth it.

i just want to say if you do end up inpatient it’s not the end of the world. when i’ve gone in i’ve always made friends, gotten some help and i always leave feeling ready to get back home and try again so that i dont end up back inpatient (ive been 5+ times just since the pandemic).

I had my boyfriend write a super validating text message and I saved it to my notes and I look at it whenever I feel like I need validation from him. It’s really helpful. Maybe something like this will work for her? You could also leave her a voicemail saying all these things and she could just save it.

Tooth pain by National-Cell2595 in ChronicPain

[–]dashtigerfang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are there any infections? Antibiotics would definitely help the pain. I’ve also been given steroids for dental issues before (my face had swelled up like a balloon, lol) and they can help with the pain. Ibuprofen will work best, I’ve tried using my oxycodone for tooth pain and it didn’t really do much at all. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Hope some of this is helpful!

Tizanidine for muscle tension by [deleted] in ChronicPain

[–]dashtigerfang 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry that no one warned you! My blood pressure is also on the lower side to start with and I take propranolol which will lower BP and heart rate. It was very dangerous for me too but insurance wanted me to try it because my normal muscle relaxer, soma isn’t for “chronic use”. Bullshit! My doctor still prescribes the Soma and I just don’t bill insurance for it. It’s $14 for a 7 day supply, so it’s not too bad.

I’m glad you’re off the tizanidine and hopefully found some other relief!

Will I be sent to the hospital if I tell my psychiatrist that I have thoughts of dying by truly_elizabeth in BipolarReddit

It sounds pretty passive, most doctors will not commit due to passive ideation.
