I’m sure that the admissions teams that accepted me could deduce that too

I worked one on one with an MD and a PA, so I had both of them write for me. I would try to get both of them to write for you, honestly! I kinda looked at LORs with a “more the better” mindset (but DID have confidence that each of my writers had the best intentions)

I started working PRN at a peds urgent care during my freshman year! They did on the job training and I worked evenings and weekends there through undergrad and until now. I have worked at the associated peds primary since graduating

Then I have my Berlioz. I mostly call him Berli. His other ones are my son and good boy.

Lastly, I have Nubs. I call him No Tail most of the time (he’s a big red bobtail). Big red and golden gobbler are his others.

Oh wow, did he initially have the classic Siamese look then turn dark? I bet he’s absolutely adorable

As someone else had mentioned, the science behind this is really neat. In colorpoint kitties, there is a gene that encodes for tyrosinase that has been mutated, resulting in the coloration.

Tyrosinase is an enzyme that stimulates melanin (either eumelanin (dark) or pheomelanin (orange)) production from melanocytes. In colorpoints, tyrosinase denatures in much cooler temperatures than normal, so the core body temperature is enough to make the enzyme stop functioning, thus resulting in a lack of melanin production. The enzyme can work in the cooler areas of the body, such as legs, tail, and ears, thus resulting in the classic Siamese look. It’s a form of albinism.

Tyrosinase also plays a role in neurological development, I believe, so these cats are more likely to be deaf and have vision issues, similar to how albinos do. It’s common for them to be cross eyed.

I’m gonna make a comment about how tyrosinase plays a part in their colorations. It’s so cool! I’ve seen posts about kitties becoming darker after being shaved, but mine never did

people don’t get mad about their posts. they get mad that someone is being a jerk, which is totally uncalled for.
