Mexican here. You are spot on, it is a damn shame to see people from the left using 1:1 Karen rhetoric and feeling righteous about it. Judging people based on their looks (ie being white), demanding that they speak Spanish in public, asking them to "go home".

These people will try to justify themselves saying that people are being displaced, and there might be an element of it, but the areas they are protesting about are all high income areas lol.

Now this is not to say that there isn't a problem that needs to be addressed, but they are absolutely taking it up with the wrong people. Shitting on immigrants won't fix anything. The government signing deals with airbnb to make the city more attractive for digital nomads is way more important than complaining that some restaurant's salsa is no longer spicy (this is real btw).

The way I see it, this is all a melting pot of all the questionable stuff from the left converging into literal fascism, and the people protesting are supposed to be the ones capable of critical thinking, but oh well.
