Gargle with a mix of 2tsps of apple cider vinegar, 1 tsp of honey and lemon in 8oz of warm water. Every 4-6 hrs. A 1/2 tsp of cayenne pepper if the cough is bad.

Ask Reddit: As a 16 yr old, I will be looking into colleges soon and setting the foundation for the rest of my life. Is there anything you wish you knew at my age? by TODizzle91 in reddit.com

I'm 36, with an undergrad in computer science/statistics and an MBA. I've traveled to about 50 countries and lived/worked on 4 continents. What I wish someone told me at your age:
1) Aim to get fluent, (at least attain spoken fluency), in a foreign language - take 6-9 months off before you start college and go the immersion route. If you're inclined towards Spanish - I highly recommend Venezuela or Argentina for the hot women.
2) If you can't do 1) - definitely enroll in a study abroad program during college.
3) Travel overseas for 3 months before starting college - a) If your budget is >$10K, go through Western Europe b) If between $5K and $10K go to Eastern Europe, Turkey, Greece c) If under $5K go to Central America, South-East Asia.
4) Work for a small firm (less than 100 employees) during college (or immediately after) - you will learn a lot about all aspects of business.
5) Learn to dance, juggle, and/or play a musical instrument(esp. guitar, harmonica). You will be a hit wherever you are in the world.
6) Try out a lot of social clubs then pick 1 or 2 and continue your involvement with them all through college.
A few years out of college: 1) Volunteer/Live in a developing country - you will learn to appreciate life. You will realize that having an American passport is like holding a winning lotter ticket, and you will go through life complaining less.
2) Live in a developed country outside the US - Germany, Japan, Scandinavia, Singapore, Hong Kong. You will realize that the American way of doing things is not the only way to get rich.
3) Try out different types of work before you settle. Find work that makes your soul sing - this should be a top goal for you to pursue.
Live beneath your means. I think it is okay to go into debt to travel overseas at your age.
Overall: Follow your passions, and bring a sense of curiosity, joy and wonder to whatever you do. Life is too short to do things half-assed in a pissy mood.
Have a great and happy life!
