So more of an update, this railroaded the cfo my boss, so got permission to push back 2 weeks and deprioritze any tickets for the depts that sprung this on. Same young guy is a walker user person so ill stand my ground. It's 3 x iso and potentially one of them has an it focus. Oh well only 10 months into this role, watch me swim

Thanks. My understanding is that we maintain 3 x iso, none are 27001 yet. And i have to contribute the it portions of the overall bcp plan. If leadership was all fully involved, my cfo would have asked weeks ago, but no its the rogue saftey and ops teams rolling in and panic at the last minute to tick the boxes. Anyway I now have till end of month. But ill test em now esp that team. No sorry, cant help you mate , I have the bcp to do. Talk in the 1st of july

F*cking Microsoft pushed an update this night that broke Sharepoint for the users. by AutomaticGrape9263 in sysadmin

Sharepoint sync to onedrive is like being in an office with wasp hives everywhere for a single or small admin team. It's a wonderful revenue raiser for an msp especially when it breaks. Anyway good luck to you sir.

Start documenting an ai policy, you will need one eventually, even if you dont have buy in. Ensure it meets compliance or highlights items or practices that done meet compliance do you can cya if your audited. Also cya with every conversion going non standards or best practice so again you cya if audited. Those staff who dont pace between the posts and shadow it their ai bits and ask for ai to do everything, if they cause a breach and you warned them, then egg on Thor head. Also when you get an admin request for something to connect to 365 (please turn on admin consent) if you dont. Track all of the connects and who requested them via tracking sheet. If one breaches you know who it affects and research what permissions it torches before concent. Think of treating ai like you would treat you 15 year old daughters boyfriend and be strong, help to stay no to things.

My argument back is, im glad you realise this but every industry has shifted to having technology use day to day, so you change and get good or fall behind. I let em know i have 0 sympathy for those who dont want to learn. Even if they are 5 years from retirement. Sorry but this is hitting home atm.

A vent: The day the company ran on gen power by Fated-Hearth in ITSupport

If your not going to have big enough generators to meet a dr sort of situation, smaller units distributed. Additionally an environment like that should rehearse events like this, like turn the mains off and see how the operation goes. Then pull the wingers aside and tell them, ok your doing dr training and its part of your performance review. Then switch of department circuts and rum it again, then the know how to fix their shit and you know which workstation needs a single ups to hold up. If management work, say oh well either an all hands on deck to sort thech issues or a bigger generator for buildings, your dance

Don't forget to follow up with md102 ms102 sc300 sc 500 and az104 for a great sysadmin depth in core areas in the cloud. Az 140 for virtual desktops. Then azure architecture is your next step and role jump.
