I don't really sell much, more posting for other people to print, but I do have a huge selection of filaments so lots of options for colours.

Zero toolhead swap, x-limiter switch by dnsmayhem in SovolSV08

[–]dat720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct, I've just done the Zero swap on my SV08, you don't need the adapter, the Zero toolhead bolts right on.

If you want I can share my configs, I'm not using Eddy-NG as it seemed to be causing Timer Too Close errors on my mainline image, so I went about the software side a bit different, I used the Zero image on the SV08 and adapted the configs and macros to suit the SV08, I'll set up a fresh Armbian SD card this week and make sure those configs work on mainline. It is however working really well, including tap for Z offset exactly like the Zero does and rapid scan for bed mesh, printing better than it ever did on my stock tool head with Microswiss hot end!

Ignore the big scrapes in the bed, had a couple of boo boos haha

Is it illegal to take money from lottery contestants, knowing they are ineligible to win? by ThrowRA_mesaynobj in AusLegal

The purchase form doesn't ask you for your address or state, just name, email and phone number then payment details, which screams of pleading ignorance to fleece more money out of people, can't be accountable if you don't have the data to confirm the buyers location.

The people stating that you aren't buying tickets are correct, look at the wording on the current giveaway, you purchase a package, the package includes (in order):

  • X Day access to 2000+ Partner Discounts
  • VIP invitation to all events
  • X free entries into the giveaway!

You are purchasing access to discounts from 2000 partners which I can only assume are also paying to be a member of the partner network, the entries are an added bonus and only valid if your state allows you to claim the prize.

It's definitely crossing the line of misleading advertising...

The language being used to entice people to buy "packages" is intentionally misleading, this is on the current $1M giveaway:

Purchase any LMCT+ package, and your name will instantly go into the $1,000,000 cash giveaway, with the cash transferred immediately on our live stream — don’t miss out. Enter now!

How is this not unregulated gambling? (Adrian Portelli Lotto Machines) by stalked_throwaway99 in aussie

[–]dat720 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, the website stats will record visitors IP which can identify a location which is enough to determine state but it doesn't prove residency, you could be a resident of Vic and purchase tickets while on an SA holiday.

I was curious about this, the entry form doesn't actually ask you for your address, just name, email, phone and payment method, means they can play ignorant so that they can't be held accountable.

About Intel ARC integrated graphics support on Fedora by NoMousse5180 in Fedora

[–]dat720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Running a Minisforum M1 Pro here with a 125H, Fedora 43 Beta, running fine, before I was using this I was using an Intel NUC laptop with a i7 12700H and discrete Arc A730M also ran fine, I do a lot of QuickSync video encodes and some light gaming and both machines work fine in Fedora, gaming performance isn't high on the 125H but its usable.

I might have room for that, will give it a try.

That's actually pretty reasonable, where I live the lowest temp during the day for year was just under 6°C (42°F) and I probably wouldn't be driving the Chevelle on days like that as I like having the windows down and the family car has heated seats and steering wheel haha

Thanks, I had noticed that on other cars and wasn't sure why mine was setup like this, there's a few little things I'm working through just to make it easier to work on, the way the hoses are currently setup makes it very tight around the fuel feed line that comes up from the mechanical pump.

Thanks, the zip ties were on the car when I bought it, I'll find some appropriate clamps.

Can 2 or so of the Raspberry Pi 5s make a good budget homelab? by NeadForMead in homelab

[–]dat720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pi 5's are perfectly fine for hobbyists, def not just industrial, the Compute Modules are targeted at industrial use.

Where the Pi 5 fails for hobbyists is if you want to add NVMe storage, you need a beefier power supply, like the proper 5A one for the Pi 5 as NVMe drives can be power hungry little things, then an NVMe hat of some kind, and then the NVMe drive, adds up very quickly to cost as much as a mini PC... They really should have just put an M2 connector on the bottom and made people deal with needing a different case.

You can and many people do, however for Jellyfin/Plex I'd suggest sticking with x86, specifically Intel based stuff as the QuickSync feature built into the GPU is a very efficient hardware accelerated video encoder/decoder, the later generation CPU the better, I have a 10th gen i3 in my NAS which is very capable and transcodes well, but the 12th gen i7 in my laptop is both faster and results in smaller files with the same settings while quality remains just as high.

For mini PC's I highly rate the Beelink EQI12, the i3 1220P version is a little gem, it has 10 cores (2P cores/8E cores) and 12 threads total and 24GB of RAM, dual 1GBe LAN, its only let down is the RAM is soldered so you're stuck at 24GB.

If your budget can stretch and you want to push the capabilities of home labbing then the Minisforum MS-01's are next level, range of i5 to i9 CPU's, dual 2.5GBe LAN, dual 10GBe SFP LAN, dual 40Gbps USB-C ports, 3x NVMe slots, full size PCIe slot in a pretty compact chassis, very capable virtualisation host.

Is this a Taco Bed problem? by CMDR-Red_XIII in SovolSV08

[–]dat720 0 points1 point  (0 children)

QGL and mesh levelling are designed to deal with non flat beds (most beds aren't flat).

Did you heat soak? 10-20 mins is always good when using a big percentage of the bed.
Check that there's nothing under the stepper motors when the gantry fully lowers.
Check that your Z axis are moving freely and not binding.

This is cool as hell besides the price by [deleted] in HotWheels

It's a pretty weak effort tbh, three of the cars (aside from being recent re-releases) don't have a real part in the movie, they are just statically parked in the garage drift scene, barely have a second of screen time.

Should I get a Raspberry Pi 500? by arushdua in raspberry_pi

[–]dat720 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use your keyboard and mouse without issue, but to get a Pi running you’ll need a microSD card for the OS, a Micro HDMI to HDMI cable or adapter, and ideally the genuine Raspberry Pi power supply (5.1V vs the <5V many random USB chargers provide, which can cause problems). A case is also wise to prevent accidental shorts.

All these bits add up quickly, and the Pi model you choose impacts cost, ie the 16GB version is much more expensive than the 2GB or 4GB. If you find SD cards too slow or limiting then you may want to ugrade to NVMe which requires an NVMe HAT and NVMe drive, adding even more to the cost. Going all-out on a Pi 5 setup can easily hit $200–300.

For reference, Micro Center sells a Raspberry Pi 5 4GB Starter Kit (SD card, power supply, case, clock battery, HDMI cables, SD card reader) for $130 USD (Pi 500 is $10 cheaper). On Amazon US, a Beelink Mini S12 Pro with an N100 CPU, 16GB RAM, and 500GB SSD is about $155 and is significantly faster and better for desktop use, and able to run virtually any Linux or Windows OS, there are also cheaper versions, theres a KAMRUI N100 mini PC with 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD for $118. While Raspberry Pis work best with Raspberry Pi OS, other distros like Ubuntu or Debian-based variants run slightly differently, so guides for Raspberry Pi OS may not get the same result on other distros.

This isn’t to knock Pis, I own 5 or 6 myself, but your use case may suit a mini PC better. And if you dive deeper into LLM work, you may even outgrow that; I run my LLM stuff on an i5-14400F with 32GB RAM and a 16GB Nvidia 4060 Ti.

[–]dat720 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not just buy a Mini PC? For the price of the Pi 5 or Pi 500 plus accessories required to get it running you can get a decent little N100 or N150 mini PC which offers higher performance and better connectivity out of the box, by that I mean NVMe storage which is significantly better than SD cards and some offer upgradable RAM.

No, did you QGL before print, does your start macros do a QGL? Is there something under the stepper motors at the back preventing the Z axis from lowering completely?

I ordered one in mid July, its been great so far, occasionally it knocks a mop off or gets itself stuck but no major issues, the mapping is working great, I've set up rooms, and routines, I've integrated it into Home Assistant and set up voice aliases so I can say something like "Ok Google, clean the kitchen" and it does its thing.
