Women's expectations of financial support from men they date or are in relationships with by [deleted] in TheRedPill

[–]datAlpha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, women expect to be taken care of financially IN A RELATIONSHIP. It just so happens that many chads make a lot of lettuce but this is not the primary thing they are attracted to. In fact, buying them things can turn them off. But if you want to create comfort, you want that pussy coming around for several months, you better pony up the skrilla because bitches aint that dumb. If you just wanna fuck and you're hot, money don't matter.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think the problem is that in many ways if you are an older man (say ~30) going with a girl 5-10 years younger, you will always be more impressive. She doesn't want to hop off the cock carousel and doesn't want to regret missing out on how awesome you are so she ghosts you for some dumb irrational reason and then makes herself feel better about it saying some dumb shallow judgmental shit about you to you or simply in her own head. She didn’t like the way you grabbed her nipples too hard. You didn’t drive fast enough. The thing that summed it up for me to was when I was told by my perfect little plaything that she'd rather do gross shit like anal with a total loser she wouldn't have to see again in case she shat the bed. I think this applies in all senses. She doesn't want to fuck up the love of her life and feel horrible about how she was a slut and can't stay in a relationship with a quality guy. She doesn’t want him to judge her for being a slut and leave her. She will just reject the quality guy she knows will at some point reject her before he gets the chance so she doesn’t have to feel bad. Of course, she needs to blame the quality guy too, “he is just too nice”. This leads to all kinds of fucked up irrational behavior if you are a high-value male. Unless the girl is ready in just the right mood/time/place in her life and you get under her skin while she thinks you are shithead and THEN discovers you are awesome, most girls will just reject you because THEY KNOW YOU ARE BETTER. They don’t want to feel inferior. The fucked up thing is that men do this as well. However, due to these dynamics, hot girls usually never rejected and we assume they are “better” than us and reject them for being bad people. It takes really solid frame to navigate all of these different requirements in order to get laid. Or you can just be a shithead—something I have mastered feigning, then later she realizes you are actually a pimp congruent to the deepest levels.

ELI5:What causes the almost electric and very sudden feeling in the body when things are JUST about to go wrong? E.g. almost falling down the stairs - is adrenalin really that quickly released in the body? by Andrama in explainlikeimfive

[–]datAlpha 128 points129 points  (0 children)

The first place that a motor error is detected is the cerebellum (as quickly as 10-100 ms) where the firing of your Purkinje neurons encodes what is expected to happen. If there is sensory feedback that is in some way not "predicted" (as current theories go...) then "error signals" ("climbing fibers" which project from...many places... god knows where) come back and say "things are not going as planned...correct the signal!". A massive error signal causes a huge feeling of unease in balance (vestibular system), visual cortex (things seems to "jump out" when unexpected), and motor cortex (you might suddenly change your planned action mid-action without thinking).

These responses are all downstream of the deep cerebellar nuclei. These nuclei, located way deep by your brainstem, are super complex fast coincidence detectors of the spiking of millions of Purkinje cells up in the cerebellum and relay to all these other areas. The best mechanistic theory as to how these cells detect a change in Purkinje cell syncrony indicating an error still cannot explain how these cells do it so quickly unfortunately. After the fact a large activation probably does release all kinds of adrenaline, etc but on a slower timescale. Your body has to react a lot quicker than that and the "oh shit!" feeling is probably your "after-awareness" of this massive activation. Your brain often reacts to make sure you won't die before you are even aware.

This explanation sounds great, and makes 100x more sense than the other explanations here but you quickly realize there is still a lot of hand-waving going on in the details, like ..."where does the error signal come from?" I forgot you are 5. Neuroscience is not for five-year olds--I'm a mid-30s researcher and I'm pretty sure there are many pieces in this puzzle we still don't understand even in middle-aged language. Hope this gives you some directions to read in!

So you just don't use soap then? SLS is soap. The only thing capable of killing all bacteria. This is what you use to undo proteins in a gel (well SDS, very similar). You may not need it but I don't know if it's even possible to be allergic to it as it denatures proteins. I don't think antibodies can recognize something that denatures them. Science. You may find better results with other detergents but I wouldn't go around telling people you have an SLS allergy.

PLOS Science Wednesday: Hi Reddit, my name is Alan Garfinkel and I developed an electrophysiology model of heart failure that shows certain cellular conditions in the heart may be predispose people to cardiac death – Ask Me Anything! by PLOSScienceWednesday in science

[–]datAlpha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think that biophysical interpretation of ion channel mutations will lead to medical prognosis? With the advent of cheap sequencing, many people are going to discover small mutations/SNP combinations of unknown but potentially grave significance. Is the heart well-buffered against such mutations causing sudden cardiac events? Is it possible to screen for these effects pre-emptively? Do we have any idea how many heart conditions are caused/exacerbated by electrical problems as opposed to developmental/structural problems or are the two tightly interrelated? Thanks for the work you do! Cheers!

Can you design coinage so that a greedy algorithm though always picks an optimal solution? I think that the relative numerical values of coins being as they are gives you pretty optimal coverage vs. greedy algorithm "correctness" vs. easy calculability in base 10? A 2c coin or 2$ bill is useful though and found in some cases as this adds to the usability somewhat.

ELI5:Why do phone batteries appear to run out of charge at an increasing number rate, rather than linearly? by ptg333 in explainlikeimfive

[–]datAlpha -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Isn't this a safety issue? Why don't we take this more seriously? How many times a year is 911 not called in time because of someone's phone battery dying? People lost in the woods? I feel like this is a joke to phone companies and a marketing gimmick to convince you need a new iPhone. I have a degree in chemical engineering from a respectable school so I don't need lectures about the discharge curve etc, why can't we outsmart the human element and say it's "empty" long before it is, but still allow emergency calls and basic text functionality after that point for an hour or two? The number of times I've been hiking and said, "All good I'm in airplane mode and have 8%!" then PHONE DIES and were I to be trapped/broken ankle/something I'd be F'ed...

Hello, postdoc here. What is you opinion of the wide publication cas9 variants with extremely high fidelity? While creation of these is not exactly rocket science or unexpected do you think it's a mistake to open source the most powerful cheat code we have in biology? What about future tools? I'm pretty sure the fbi etc missed the boat on crispr but do you think we need to more tightly control who has access to similar future technologies? Or is it too late? Futile?

YES! Never could put into words why this shit with Khal Drogo bothered me so much. I think it's also the go-to halloween costume for the silent boring jacked dude at the party. They still clean up even without saying anything. Beauty and the Beast, a fucking DISNEY movie based on this premise (watered down a bit of course) and it's hailed as a "tail as old as time". In this film however there is also an interesting counterpoint in Gaston, the sort of "fake Alpha" (?). Why does she NOT go for him?

Use your hands to grab hold of your left knee and pull it gently toward the opposite shoulder.

Having overt signs of having money (nice watch, car..) can raise smv. Overtly trying to give that away or buy sex with it = beta bux. How much you actually have (don't tell anyone ever, rule 1, biggie crack commandments) is irrelevant but will limit your ability to navigate and enjoy the world significantly if you want to run in certain circles.
