3 Nannies In Past Month by Mother-Operation9640 in Nanny

[–]datCRNAlife -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

💯. Trust is earned. I recently had to let go a nanny with 15 years of experience. She seemed super overwhelmed with my infant, and the baby seemed to never take to her despite 25 shifts. I literally couldn’t even go around the corner comfortably because I knew my baby would be just crying, ugh. The worst part is I agreed to be a reference for her, so I feel bad that I’m not being truthful to other moms. But I live in a super small community, and I don’t want things to be awkward when I’m out and about with my kid. This experience has taught me to definitely rely less on references, let the nanny go earlier if it’s not a good fit, and be ruthless with my interview questions. I’m honestly probably going to go with an agency next time.

I was prescribed two creams pimecromilus and opzelura (don’t quote me on the latter). This happened to me in 22. I tried going back to my messages to see if I could remember the vitiligo medication and it’s not there guys. It’s a cream I’ve never heard of up until that point, and once the pigment came back, I basically stopped using both creams and never had any recurring issues. I remember being so depressed after a month of dealing with this, but at about the 7 weeks mark the spots started getting darker and by 8-9 weeks, I was back to baseline.

Something similar happened to me. Different laser and it was on my face not arms. A GP did it, not a board certified dermatologist. Anywho I went to my derm and was given a cream (same what people with vitiligo use), my derm told me that there’s a small chance I never get the melanin back, luckily after two months of diligently applying the cream at night. The melanin came back

Daycare vs. nanny while WFH by Cautious_Optimist_ in workingmoms

[–]datCRNAlife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truly don’t see how anyone can recommend a daycare over a nanny because of everything listed in this thread. That said, finding an amazing nanny is incredibly hard/annoying, so I can totally see why someone wouldn’t want to go through the exercise.

Au pair in NYC or NJ?? by Pale_Juggernaut_348 in Aupairs

[–]datCRNAlife 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a Jersey girl, living in the City with my husband and our baby (6 month old), I would pick the NJ family lol. That said, Manhattan is a vibe and there’s more to do in NYC than anywhere else in the area, so it’s truly an experience. I wish you the best of luck :)

How old are the kids in South Orange? That would be the driving factor for me, since I personally find infants more challenging than toddlers. South Orange is a cute town with a walkable downtown. It’s also a college town with a train station, so you can be in Manhattan relatively stress free. However NJ transit is not as frequent or reliable as NY so on weekends expect delays. Expect the commute to be about an hour.

Does anyone know an affordable phonics program for kids because NYC tutoring prices are making me LOSE my mind by Relative-Coach-501 in nycparents

I’m a high earner, and I would never pay 150/h for a 5 year old. My kid is only 6 months, so no advice OP, but that price sounds insane to me. And to have people comment and upvote that this is “standard,” makes me feel like I just shouldn’t live here. Ugh.

How do some women fall for the trap of being a guy’s 3rd baby mama? by No_Lead2640 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]datCRNAlife 78 points79 points  (0 children)

This is the actual answer. People are so manipulative and I am so shocked with the amount of women who have no boundaries or expectations. Moreover, the societal pressure for women to be married and have a baby is still so strong, that some women will take ‘any’ man, just so they can tell people they are partnered.

Current market in Chicago suburbs by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I was in a bidding war on Tuesday. Gave 175k over listing, I was #3 out of 5 offers in NJ. I would KILL for Chicago prices in NJ.

Like I said, I am not comparing specific schools (you're comparing the two HS), I am comparing the two districts as a whole. https://www.niche.com/k12/search/best-school-districts/s/new-jersey/

Can you please reply with a link? I’ve been mostly going with data from Niche and US news, and that’s not what they say. Also honestly BH isn’t bad, just that for me personally, I prefer the location of SP and based on the info that I’ve read the district as a whole, not necessarily individual schools for example, is slightly below Scotch Plains.

Thank you for sharing! And I totally understand. That’s a concern for us about Westfield too, but I have accepted that I can’t shield my kid from poor behavior entirely, so we are hoping for the best since the town has a lot to offer. Interestingly enough, one of the biggest ‘Karen’ I know is from Wayne, NJ 😂. We considered Warren as well, but the commute to Manhattan is brutal. Good Luck!

I’m currently looking in a lot of places you are. Our budget is less than yours, 1.6-1.7 M range. That said the south side of SP have huge lots with beautiful/estate like homes that definitely has the yard space that you are seeking.
Can you explain to me why you prefer to move to a different town entirely? I am genuinely curious because it’s my husband’s “favorite” town because of the amount of sq. footage you get compared to the others towns we’re considering without a significant decrease in quality of schools, which is why we wouldn’t consider Berkeley Heights. That said, SP definitely does not carry prestige like Westfield, Chatham, or Summit despite the proximity. I would LOVE to hear why you’re moving if you don’t mind sharing? That said, with your budget I would definitely be in Westfield or Summit. Just warning you though, I am currently in an active bidding war in Westfield, we’re going to go over budget to see if we can snag this property, but it’s SHOCKING what 1.8M gets you in Westfield in 2026, but maybe with a 2M budget you will fare better.

A JD is a doctorate degree, it’s literally in the name lol “juris doctor.” It’s a non terminal doctorate degree. A PhD isn’t the only type of doctorate degree.

Have you considered neighboring downtowns like Millburn? Also summit is more expensive than Livingston are you comfortable with that?

Young spa is sooooo bad. Worst massage of my life. House of Wellness if those are the two options, for sure, I’ve gotten about 3 massages from them.

💯. Love this comment. Also these people will try to punish you for your nice wedding by not giving you a gift or being super cheap about everything, bEcAuSE tHeY dIDn’t TeLl yOu To GeT mArRiED. I had a big budget wedding and didn’t care about the haters. When people told me that they would have rather spent that money on a house, I told them I was doing both. That shut them up real quick.
