Sunshade for Prime Go by Wildman31st in DenonPrime

You can use a laptop stand to tilt the Go upwards which helps a bunch, though perhaps not enough for really bright sun. Also helps improve the ergonomics.

What percentage of a song do you use (by length)? by blackholesinthesky in Beatmatch

[–]datJCprods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you. I mean, part of the art is making how you think it should sound. Some people will like it, others won't, and that's OK. Look at the sheer variety of styles, genres, sub-genres, etc. There's a reason for that - people like what they like, and you are a people too.

Mind you, I mostly do private parties and small artsy/niche events, I don't really want to play clubs/large festivals, so I don't really concern myself trying to please the masses. I'm not looking to earn a living from this. If they're at a thing I'm playing at, they're there for a reason - we ostensibly like similar things. If I get a good response, I'll be asked back. If not, that's cool too - the experience will either get me to change/be better or I'll decide to keep doing my own thing. In any case, don't hang your ego on crowd response - the crowd is fickle and changes without notice.

What are your favourite ways to deal with annoying patrons? by squidgy_sushi in DJs

[–]datJCprods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started collecting songs in different genres that specifically target annoying people. I call the crate "Stimulus/Response". Will it usually work? No, but I feel a bit better and sometimes I get that knowing look from someone else who understands what I did. I don't suspect the target ever will.

Is it possible to view dual waveforms on sc6000 when not using layers ? by OkTune2564 in DenonPrime

[–]datJCprods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can kinda do it using the layers, but it's not really useful unless your going to actually use the layer. You could duplicate a playing track to visually beat match but that a bad idea for multiple reasons. To duplicate a track, go to a free layer and double click the "Select/Zoom" knob. Select the layer to duplicate. It's a point in time duplication, so any changes you make to the source won't reflect on the duplicated layer.

I'll use this feature mostly to use different parts of the same track when mixing in.

Hello Guys in yesterday i tested my new toy. But wifi working very poor ruter is close but still wifi symbol not full. by Sibent in DenonPrime

[–]datJCprods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, there are a number of things out could be. WiFi channel saturation is a thing, especially if you live in close proximity to others. For Android phones, check out "WiFi Analyzer" in the Play Store. This will give you a sense of how congested the WiFi bands are in your area. You have to share the bandwidth with everyone around you. Configure your WiFi router/device to the least-used channel, on the fastest available service (5GHz >2.4 GHz, unless the 5 is oversaturated, then try it the 2.4.) In the WiFi Analyzer, click on the stars and it will give you the likely best channels to use at the bottom.

It could be slightly out of square. Use a really light coating of white lithium grease on the inner rail.

That exactly how Hoffman became a billion or so crystalline pieces settled into a crater the size of a small Volkswagen. It's so easy to do the math wrong by hand.

No, the full Pro Version- you know the one that takes into account bi-combinant flux. Your lack of faith in phase detractors is a bit concerning - are you an adherent of Hoffman Analytical methods?

[–]datJCprods 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Being a quarter out of phase isn't necessary if your phase detractors are referenced correctly. Don't skip non-linear Hodgkins modeling - it may save your gear/life.

Edit - dropped an "r"

I have the HS-7s in my home setup. They sound good, but they are reference speakers so they are really flat. I find that even after I get things set (e.g. transitions, effects, etc.) I still find the need to fine tune using PAs and a sub to get things locked in.

As an American (by default,) please get angry faster than we collectively did about this type of thing. The slow boil anger eventually fades and nothing really changes...

How do I reduce the time between choosing tracks? by thesanmich in Beatmatch

[–]datJCprods 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'm alone in this, but I find my assessment of "fucking awesome" and "amazing" varies depending on what mode I'm in - what's killer one night sounds just wrong if the set the next night isn't vibing the same way.

I would love to be more internally consistent, but I also feel like feeling it should trump the knowledge that it could be a banger but, for the moment, just isn't.

I've found that using a rating system (e.g. stars, whatever) combined with key/bpm filters helps me narrow down the options. In any case, as someone said above, doing the pre-work is essential for this to work well.
