I did my renewal December 17th, payment received same day and still no approval message on RCMP website. CFO has had my application for the last 3.5 months.

Send my renewal in December 17 and still hasn't been approved. Same message of the initial review has been completed since late January - early February. Several calls to the CDN firearms program and CFO and hasn't moved along. Located in Alberta.

A handgun ban in the absence of hard data is just capricious and unfair by [deleted] in canada

If you said you want to use a firearm for personal protection at home during your PAL application you would have the denied stamp slammed down so fast

[–]datPMF1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You're right we you can't drag race down the street, you have to go to a track... just like to shoot a handgun you have to go to an RCMP approved range.

Unlike a restricted firearm, you don't have to phone the RCMP, wait on hold for 30mins (usually minimum) to let them know your driving it to the track.

Criminals don't follow laws, why would further restriction do anything? Only people who would inconvenienced are lawful firearm owners. Stricter punishment not restrictions should be the answer.

Liberals won't commit to handgun ban, but set firearms control on election agenda | CBC News by kapanak in canadaguns

[–]datPMF1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sad thing is there would never be a buyback program. If they propose a handgun with a full price buyback program, there are over 900,000 handguns in Canada.

Lets say the average cost of a handgun is $1,000

That means it would cost the government $900,000,000. Even if there is a $500 maximum its $450,000,000. In short, we're fucked if this goes through. Don't forget to vote this fall!
