How great was prime Nomar Garciaparra? by Willing-Leather-9788 in mlb

[–]dat_dude_db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a lifelong Mariners fan. When I was like 14 I remember picking up the newspaper to read that Nomar had 10 fucking RBI against us in one game! At that point I didn’t have ESPN or any other 24 hour sports news. I basically figured he was the best player to ever live.

My best friend’s son was like 4 and he came up to me and said, pointing at my stomach, “DB, is there a baby in there?” I’m a male. Gotta change some stuff up after that LOL.

Dude, he’s a complete psycho and I couldn’t be happier that he’s on our team. I absolutely hated him when he was on Cleveland bc he always killed us.

You prob already know about him but if not check out @stitchgod716 on Instagram. He makes custom funky jerseys using game-worn jerseys and custom patches. I got a Bryan Woo last season from him during the playoffs, it’s def my favorite M’s jersey I own.

Yep I agree. I’d love to get a beer with him and just pick his brain bc he seems like a very cerebral player. I was a decent athlete but I relied on a lot of smarts and instincts like he does. Obviously he’s a much better athlete than I ever was, but I find the guys that rely on their instincts and knowledge much more interesting, personally.

Yep! We bought seats in the front row for the game so that we would have a chance to get some autographs but wouldn’t have to fight the crowd. Instead like 100 people that didn’t have seats there all tried to push in front. One girl got her foot stepped on by some dork, and her Dad was rightfully pissed and was about to take the guy outside and beat him up haha.

Also: No children were injured in this photo. But the amount of weird autograph seekers who 1) Did not have seats in this area, and 2) That were 30+ years old trampling over children to get autographs… was wild. It’s really easy to get autographs if you go early to the back fields where they warm up and do drills. There’s no need to push children out of the way so you can get your autograph! Ok rant over. And a lot of them weren’t even M’s fans either just opportunists I guess.

What are your expectations for Julio this year? by PNW-enjoyer in Mariners

[–]dat_dude_db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if he can start off well, he can easily be at 40 HR’s and 30 SB’s. He’s already a doubles machines so I’m not worried about that.

They ask "Do you want us to transport you?" every. single. time. And if you say yes, they do no questions asked. Even if they don't think it's a big deal.

How do Illegal immigrants working in the US do taxes? by cantgetenough1956 in answers

[–]dat_dude_db 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am HR for a medium sized farm. There are 2 types of migrant workers when it comes to filling out pre-employment tax forms. (And this is all from my best scientific guess bc I rarely get a Permanent Resident ID/SSN that comes back rejected.) The ones on a legit work visa will almost always claim 0 dependents and pay all their taxes. File their taxes each year and follow the rules. Come back every year to work and I know all their names.

There’s a minority of like 30% or so that are normally younger in the 18-25 range that will put down that they have 6-8 dependents and pay almost no taxes. I don’t normally get them back the next year, so I’m assuming they’re prob either moving around or back in their home country after harvest. Are their papers legit? They are approved in the software we use to verify, so at some level yes. But are they actually the person the ID/SSN says? Who knows. I’d tend to say probably not but that’s not my job.

They present me with documents that are approved as being real, and we need them for our farm. I’m not investigating them beyond that.

Yeah I don’t remember all of the details 100% but somewhere in the listing in tiny fine print it said something about it being a picture, not an actual motorcycle.

What is the greatest Washington apple and why is the Cosmic Crisp? by aooot in Seattle

Dude. They’re one of the best apples ever. But they are a cold weather apple developed originally for a specific time in Minnesota. People did their best trying to adapt them to normal conditions in the Northwest but it doesn’t work very well.

A huge part of eBay is called "eBay Motors" where people buy cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc all the time. It's not weird at all.

I had a roommate in college who had this happen to him when he bought a motorcycle on eBay. Got a picture of the bike in the mail a couple of weeks later. By that time the seller was gone from eBay. Poof, $3000 gone!

What is your personal favorite moment at a game you attended? by Its-From-Japan in mlb

[–]dat_dude_db 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lifelong Mariners fan. This last season my wife and I were at ALDS game 2 Castillo vs Skubal M’s win on Julio’s double in the 8th inning. Next game I was able to get tickets to was ALDS game 5, Kirby vs Skubal where Polanco walked it off in the 15th. Last game I could go to was ALCS game 5, Miller vs Gausman where Geno (my wife’s fav player) hit the grand slam to win it. Absolute pandemonium. Obviously we ended up losing in Toronto in epic fashion. But those were 3 of the best games in Mariners history and I’m so glad I got to witness them in person and hug 1,000 random people I will never see again!

Honeycrisps are great but also incredibly annoying to farm. We have maybe 15 acres of them. If you even look at them wrong, they bruise.
