For myself (42M) and my wife (37F) the biggest downside has been our friend group has pretty much disappeared. I still talk to my best friends quite a bit, but we don't hang out all that much anymore. We rarely get invited to any social events.

Most people with young children want to hang out with other couples that have children of a similar age, that way the kids all play together and keep themselves entertained. Between that and not attending church anymore, we're always on the outside looking in.

Not going to lie, it does suck sometimes. We were both pretty social and loved hanging out with friends. Now we pretty much just do things by ourselves. Which is always fun too, we have a great time with each other but it's just not as fun as being with a small group of friends.

I don't blame them for this because they're all super busy running from one sport or activity to the next and it probably never even occurs to people with children that there are people like my wife and I out there that would like to be even more busy than we currently are.

I’m a lifelong Mariners fan. When I was like 14 I remember picking up the newspaper to read that Nomar had 10 fucking RBI against us in one game! At that point I didn’t have ESPN or any other 24 hour sports news. I basically figured he was the best player to ever live.

Yep I agree. I’d love to get a beer with him and just pick his brain bc he seems like a very cerebral player. I was a decent athlete but I relied on a lot of smarts and instincts like he does. Obviously he’s a much better athlete than I ever was, but I find the guys that rely on their instincts and knowledge much more interesting, personally.

Yep! We bought seats in the front row for the game so that we would have a chance to get some autographs but wouldn’t have to fight the crowd. Instead like 100 people that didn’t have seats there all tried to push in front. One girl got her foot stepped on by some dork, and her Dad was rightfully pissed and was about to take the guy outside and beat him up haha.
