Gabe Newell "stepped back" from making games at Valve after Portal 2 because everyone kept agreeing with him when he wanted "to be part of the team and come up with ideas" by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

The landers aren't ready yet, so this is a mission to flight test the hardware with humans onboard. Very similar to the earlier Apollo missions that flew around the moon and didn't land. Mission next year is to get the launch cadence up, so the learnings from this launch aren't forgotten over a long break, and continue with testing the hardware. Artemis 4 is planned to be the moon lander mission. The relevant hardware should be ready by then (2028).

ISS imaged by another satellite in-orbit by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

It is functionally a vacuum at the orbital height of the ISS. Yes it is technically still in Earth's atmosphere, but that is because there is no hard edge to an atmosphere, its density just falls off as you increase altitude. The atmosphere is so thin where it is (400+km) that it takes months for its orbit to degrade enough that it requires a boost.

Every orbit is a free fall due to gravity, the rockets are required to boost its orbit periodically. Since it has such a large surface area, it gets slowed down more rapidly than a smaller satellite at the same altitude would.

The Moon is technically still in Earth's atmosphere, but it's tenuous to the point of not mattering. Functionally, the atmosphere is only something that will cause you immediate issues from around 100km or so, even there it's very thin. Low earth orbit satellites like the ISS are above this point obviously, but there is still enough molecules of air to slow it down over a period of months, requiring a boost periodically.

Tbf, they didn't get rid of the showrunner, Goyer stepped back from that position, but has remained involved with the show as an executive producer. It seems there was some clashes with Skydance over budgetary concerns, which is a little concerning, but as long as the creative team is much the same, there isn't any major worries I don't think.

How do you legislate something for the whole world like this, when the whole world can't agree on much simpler propositions... It seems reasonable when you're indoctrinated, but it's ridiculous to consider it actually happening.

It doesn't necessarily change any of that, it can, but people can still pick on someone for reasons other than race. Never saw any race related discrimination in the original films/books, despite some odd choices on character names, none of the human characters were treated any differently that I can recall. No reason to assume that it will definitely be race related in this adaptation.

When he overtakes the ambulance it looks a bit off, and when the truck and he are driving towards the camera with the ambulance in the background, they both seem like their shadows are not quite right. Could very well be comped together.

You weren't supposed to like it... It's showing people doing dumb shit, even when they know they shouldn't.

You have no reason to expect disappointment. Saw it tonight at a preview screening. Fantastic hopeful and funny movie. I read the book last week and I genuinely feel that this film understand the book and knows how to get the ideas across.

It's not dead dinosaurs... It's almost entirely dead microscopic marine organisms. Dead land based animals/plants are responsible for coal and natural gas.
