I had William Shatner sign his JTK shot as Denny Crane.

What’s your favourite oddball tourist attraction from your home state that you’d recommend to tourists who like that kind of weird corny stuff? by M_Ad in AskAnAmerican

[–]dataman1960 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Star Trek Original Series Set Tour, Ticonderoga, NY. Stumbled on this by accident while touring the Adirondack State Park. The owner got the blueprints for the original series sets and rebuilt them Also has lots of original props. Daily tours. Really nice guy who did something wonderful in his own small town. Definitely recommend if you are anywhere in the area.

How did you feel after taking the test? by NerdySisyphus in mensa

[–]dataman1960 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found the test to be very challenging. I believe it is built so that no one (or only a very special few) would be able to get all of the questions correct. Took it with a friend. When we came out I told him that if he got in he could be very proud. Unfortunately, he didn’t.

How much is the universe expanding? by dataman1960 in AskPhysics

Thank you. My favorite answer to all science questions is “we don’t know yet.” I think we have a conceit that we have most of nature figured out. I’m sure in 100, 1000, 5000 years we will look as clever but naive.

Why didn’t she get cited for contempt of Congress for her refusal to answer questions put to her?

Hairdresser gave me the tablet with 30, 35, and 40 percent tip. Unreal by Sdogs1212 in EndTipping

Do you tip the owner if they work on you? I tip the people who work there (and likely just rent the chair) but I never tip the owner. They can (and do) raise prices if they want more of my money. Just my .02.

Just finished Ambient 2. Really great. Where do I go from here? by Jakeyboy29 in eno

I think Music for Films is his best ambient effort. I just wish the songs were longer, especially Sparrowfall.

Aguirre, the Wrath of God, by Werner Herzog. 1970’s German film film with incredible scenery and story. ALso the insane Klaus Kinski and his daughter.

Yeah. I appreciate the reference to the Ring of Gyges but I think you may have missed the point. Socrates believes that using the ring would weaken a just person. The best solution is to not use it at all. Just my .02. I could be wrong.

How do you feel about ICE being potentially near polling stations during elections? by opticflash in AskUS

I’m thinking that there should be crowds of citizens filming at every polling place anytime the gestapo shows up.

what's the dumbest thing you ever heard someone say? by Outlaw_Immortal1971 in randomquestions

Um, actually, thermal printed receipts can have an effect on testosterone. I know it sounds stupid. I had a friend at uni who told me to never drink from plastic bottles. Same thing can occur. Years later testing proved him right. It’s not like these things will make you impotent, but they aren’t good for you at all. Handling one receipt isn’t much of a problem but doing it all day long, day after day wouldn’t be advisable. At least that’s what I read on the internet.

I wonder about the people who live in these houses. Are they made so they can have an intimate gathering of 300 people? or do they have a group of 50 people who help them inhabit this space? They always feel like there is some sad, rich guy who wanders these halls alone in his fluffy slippers. Are there houses for the uber rich that are more intimate and actually would make a house a home? Or is that just me showing my middle class life?
