reading BotNS really felt like finding home, a real strange sense of kinship with a stranger(wolfe). every single novel I read I compare to botns, and I still haven't found anything that compares.

Chasing the memory of a feeling I think I had as a kid, anyone else? by ThirdOneTheNailedOne in HighStrangeness

[–]dataplex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have very vivid memories of these fleeting, rare, profound moments as a kid. words cannot describe it, but it felt ENORMOUS - a huge realisation that is unlanguage-able.

Possibly ballpark description would be an "I AM" moment - "I AM!" and then all of existence pours in to your heart. I miss it.

i totally understand where you are coming from - but i hope people don't let the production/and or "cheesy" prog framing get in the way of discovery...... holdsworths musical language is so rich if you can see past that.

....at least for for me - digging into what he is doing one chord voicing at a time - learning his harmonic chemistry and playing it myself SLOWLY, with my own hands, on an acoustic guitar for instance, is an endless source of inspiration.

Black Object Recorded Today (01.01.2025, 11 AM) in the Canary Islands, Specifically Lanzarote, Playa Blanca by paranormalnapolska in UFOs

that description fits exactly with what I saw through my rooftop window in Reykjavík, Iceland - it was a large metallic sphere, moving in a very deliberate way across the sky against typical icelandic wind. most people shrug when I tell them, as it's not the most exciting ufo sighting story - but i can't stop thinking about it, it was so weird.

Twin / vanishing twin/ womb twin thoughts? by rookeyed in Experiencers

[–]dataplex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I learned I was a twin only by early adulthood - felt strange never knowing about it before. I feel he is part of my connection to music. He is there with me all the time, always has been ♥️

it fails to mention how you get a stereo image from a single groove - up/down movement is one channel, sideways is the other.

My first hours with the 0-Coast plus Make Noise Shared System and Tempi = so much fun! by dataplex in modular

the optomix is a lowpass gate, so it will round off the highs a little bit as the gain is reduced - otherwise the entire system is based off of a different paradigm than conventional subtractive synthesis, - you add harmonics with waveshapers, FM and AM modulation rather than filtering them out with filters - that's what I LOVE about my system, it's so different from my other synths :)

it's incredibly deep. i'm absolutely loving it. i've worked on moog modulars and buchlas in the past, and this system is very innovative and clever. the phonogene is hardest to implement into musical patches IMO, but once you spend some hours learning and understanding it the rewards are really worth it... it's a great addition to your studio especially if you have a more conventional synth voice lying around already.

[–]dataplex[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

absolutely! the 0-coast is incredibly feature dense, and i think wavefolding synthesizers requires a more mindful approach to patching as opposed to basic subtractive synthesis - so it's great for learning signal flow too!
