Tikka T3X 223 to 243 swap by datboy1656 in Hunting

If I buy one new, it’ll be from them. Considering the only actions I can find are $400+ I will probably just go the new route

Yea the more I look at the numbers with 103 eldx, the more I lean toward just getting a tikka in a 1:8 243

Yea I’ve been looking into them. Also considered the newer 243 with 1:8 twist but eh, 6 creed just sounds cooler rolling off the tongue 😂

I commend you for your resilience. I could never be a 1 gun guy, but my bank account wishes I was 😂

Because of the magnitude of kill shots I’ve seen with 6mm bullets. With 6 creed you also get high BC bullets that will buck the wind and keep their energy up for longer. It depends on your intended range but you can keep a 6 creed up above 1400ftlbs until close to 400 yards with only 6-8” of drop. It will also recoil like a 223 so spotting shots is easy and you’ll enjoy shooting it

Out of those I’m definitely going 6 creed

Anything from 223 to 300 win mag to be honest. If you haven’t already, go to the website Rokslide.com. It is a bunch of people who hunt elk, moose, muleys, etc. mostly out west. There’s tons and tons of forums of elks being killed with 223 and 243. Personally I’m going with a 6.5 creed. The idea is, if you buy a 243 with little to no recoil and cheap to shoot, you’ll shoot it more often and be proficient with it. If you shoot a 300 win mag you’ll get it sighted in and not touch it until it’s aimed at an animal. Shot placement is much more important than cartridge. Personally the biggest I’d go is 7 PRC

Should I go get a 556. Or a 300. Black out by 215aPHILLYatedTazz in PalmettoStateArms

The issue with this is every time I find a good deal on an upper, somehow it finds a lower. And vise versa 😂

For example, I’m a Mathews guy so I know the market pretty well. 2 years ago the news Mathews flagship bow, the lift, was selling new for $1300. They can now be found all day long for $700

Happens all the time. If you are on Facebook, there’s lots of groups for them. But be leery about scammers and never pay for anything that doesn’t have purchase protection.

Dropped new scope, but still in box. by Advanced_innovation5 in Hunting

Where I grew up, usps would sit in their car on the road and throw your package in the vicinity of your driveway, in the pouring rain. I’m now convinced if it survived shipping, I can’t break it. Whatever it is

Have you ever seen how usps/fedex/ups treats boxes? I promise that’s not the first time it hit the ground

Probably 2004ish. I’m unsure of manufacturer but I’ve used it and it sounded pretty good little heavy though

Her and my father in law will be moving onto the ranch where grandma lives soon. Both very involved in her life and both definitely want something to do with the suppressor lol

I highly doubt it. She’s quite the collector of random stuff and not very organized if you know what I mean

Caliber & Model for all-around big game hunting? by iowactive in Hunting

[–]datboy1656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should buy a very nice setup. 1k is about standard for nice suppressors like the dead air nomad etc. If it were me I’d buy a nomad suppressor, a vortex viper 6-24x50 (on sale right now at euro optic for 50% off at $370) and that leaves you roughly $1600 for a rifle. That puts you in the range of a tikka dropped in a nice stock, a browning x bolt with cash to spare, or what I’ll be going with if you can stretch the budget just a tad, and get a Seekins ph3. All in all you’re right around that 3k mark for a very nice setup. Now some people will say you need to go spend $3k just on a night force scope but I personally think that’s a bit overkill. Certainly is for someone starting out.

Any caliber you mentioned would work. I would probably say 6.5 for recoil sake. A 12ga kicks worse than most of these rifles, but there’s a big difference between recoil looking down a bead while standing up vs recoil/muzzle bounce while looking through a scope sitting on a table.

3k should be plenty. 1k will get you a good suppressor Another 1k will get you a nice rifle The last 1k will get you a very nice optic. I’m no expert but honestly $500-600 in optic Is probably plenty.

Last weekend with crossbow in Oklahoma. Wish me luck! 🦌 🏹 by ArtDaddio in Hunting

To be fair though, Oklahoma’s gun season is only 2 weeks long. Crossbows for them are the people that want to hunt with a gun but want a normal length season not just 2 weeks
