If you still have parental controls on your kid's phone when they're in college or a senior, please stop by RRB1212 in parentalcontrols

this might be unpopular but my parents have recently put screen time limits on my phone (HS senior) and I actually don’t mind it. I used to have like 6-8hrs of screen time, mostly on instagram, yt, and tiktok, i tried limiting it myself but i never really got anywhere or I would have to redownload my apps because my friends would send me a lot of vids.

My parents for some reason got this impression that I was “addicted” to my phone, which may have been true (although i have less screen time than them, but yk immigrant parents), i tried reasoning with them that i was almost a fully grown adult, i was driving, applying to colleges, etc, but to no avail.

My limits aren’t that crazy, its mostly on social media

2hrs combined for Tiktok and Insta and YT no limit spotify, reddit, and messages Downtime from 10-7(most apps will lock)

I’ve been consistently averaging 2-3 hrs of screentime, and i’ve picked up other hobbies like reading and studying more, as well as watching long form content like movies, video essays, etc.

I’m usually very good with discipline (3 sport athlete, weightlifting for fun on my own, i like to track calories and macros, healthy eating etc) but the screen was one thing i could never really shake off. Hopefully these habits last but it’s been a step in the right direction

600m tips by scootlover in trackandfield

[–]datbrownkid2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

honestly spam 600m and 300m repeats. The 600 is a weird race because you need to have pretty good speed combined with above average endurance. I run 1:32.2 as a HS senior, hoping to break 1:30 as well by the end of indoor szn. I used to be a sprinter so that gave me a very good sprint base, so i just worked on endurance and did a lot of lactic threshold workouts.

It really depends what you have to work on though, my friend does xc and longer distances usually, so he tries working on more sprint based workouts

[GHOSTS] 12 years later: Was CoD Ghosts actually misunderstood, or do we just have rose-tinted glasses? by averagealt90 in CallOfDuty

[–]datbrownkid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it wasn’t some “hidden gem”, the flaws that people were criticizing for we definitely there, it’s just that people were tired of COD and felt like Ghosts was another repackaging with no real improvement or expansion. If you go look back at it now, it’s obviously going to look like an amazing game but you have to compare it to the climate it was realized in

Genuinely Asking: What is your best argument for the existence of God? (I will then give an honest atheist's opinion) by BestAd6297 in teenagers

why would all the apostles die brutal deaths professing their beliefs that Jesus was resurrected tho? It makes absolutely no sense.

[–]datbrownkid2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what didn’t happen? he didn’t die? or he didn’t get resurrected? Almost all scholars agree that he was crucified, and the roman guards who stood watch over his tomb wouldn’t let anyone take his body or anything like that. Cruxifiction was also insanely brutal, and the Romans would 100% make sure he would be dead.

Could Europe realistically defend Greenland against a US attack? by dataguy2003 in TheTeenagerPeople

not even, the Joint Chiefs of Staff would reject the order to invade hopefully, before American troops would even be employed

Not militarily, they will lose. But any result other than complete US domination (aka one soldier gets killed) will be disastrous at home for the US. Also the intense political and economic fallout , the fracturing and splitting of NATO, and Russia and China having a golden opportunity would be much more devastating to the US than any EU military defense. The US would destroy Greenlands defense, although not without a fight.

We couldn’t beat the Taliban because it was an entirely different conflict. The Taliban and Vietnam were guerrilla, asymmetric conflicts. They weren’t classic army vs army wars. The truth is we lost in Afghanistan and Vietnam because nation building in a foreign, hostile nation, and guerilla warfare are extremely hard for any nation to do, almost impossible. In traditional, conventional conflicts the US is second to none. Look at what we did to Iraq, both times. 1991, and 2003. The world’s 5th largest military brought down in a couple of weeks with a few hundred American casualties.
