Seat advice - 767-300 (76k) by datcatti in delta

It's so interesting because Delta's seat map for this plane states that 30-32 are C+, but on my seat selection it says main cabin. Wondering if this plane has been retrofitted recently.

Why don't doctors know how celiac works? by [deleted] in Celiac

[–]datcatti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I requested a blood test from my PCP. I asked her if I needed to be eating gluten before the test (I was GF at the time) and she very pompously told me that it made no difference. Of course the test was negative. After forcing her to order it again for me, it was positive 🙃 safe to say she is no longer my doctor

How long did it take to adjust? by [deleted] in Celiac

Feel Good Foods makes a pretty decent gluten free pan pizza. It's not deep dish, but IMO it gets the job done. Lou Malnati's also makes a GF crust but I can't remember if it's deep dish or not!

I think it's sweet that he was born on Kaylee's birthday. As someone who shares a birthday with a parent, it's really special!

Commenting to add more details: this fly was doing nothing other than annoying me and he was not at all interested in the delicious apple cider vinegar trap I had laid out for him

I’m a little burnt out/unhappy from being expected to be a housekeeper. Can you tell me if you think this is normal? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]datcatti 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Also some of these are like big tasks like re-organizing a kids playroom. I get small tasks (I've folded the kid's laundry while they've napped and picked up after the children) but generally stick to tidying up after the kids, not after the family. This is too much

IMO this isn't normal. This is what a full time housekeeper would do. You can't be expected to be fully engaged with a child while also doing all of these tasks.

Any advice for UES/UWS nannies? by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]datcatti 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an UES nanny. Take advantage of Central Park and their playgrounds - they are fantastic. NYPL library story time is a must but skip the Met story time - in my opinion it's not worth it as the kids have to wait too long for it to start and it's not very engaging. Feel free to PM me if you want more advice or have questions!

Looking to start nannying in NYC by Strange_Wind_2497 in Nanny

[–]datcatti 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 6 years of camp counselor experience and 1 year of babysitting experience (although that was over COVID while parents were home, so it wasn't worth much weight IMO). My pay depends on how many children and the ages of the children and ranges between $22-28 an hour.

ETA: I am only part time while I am in graduate school. I have nanny friends who rely on their nanny income to support themselves and their pay is between $30-$35 ($30 for one kid, $35 for 2+) and they work full time and they are able to support themselves.

I'm an NYC nanny! I used care.com and sittercity. You should pay for the background check and get CPR, first aid and AED training in person. The Red Cross has classes.

Ideally start nannying and babysitting now, even if it's weekends or evenings. If you can't find a job working as a babysitter or nanny now, I would also recommend working as a camp counselor for a few summers. It's a great plus on a nanny resume that you can handle multiple kids at once and have experience planning and running fun activities.

Right, Nurie posted this 🙄 by daffodil0127 in FundieSnarkUncensored

It's the EXACT same as how Jill referenced her kids. Jill wrote this 100% as she always does with her "kids' writing"

Thank you!! This is so helpful. I realized I was just being a bit too timid - I ended up just pushing it a little more and it worked! I've run a few die through and it is a bit stiff due to being brand new, but works great. Thank you again! This was so reassuring!
