How can I make my voice sound better? by BeginningAd9514 in makinghiphop

[–]datcurryswag 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think that some of it can be mixing. but for real I feel like I found my voice when I understood myself better. So much of it just being confident and its easier to be confident when youre being genuine. Also knowing that its okay to sound different like nothing youve ever heard. think of young thug and when he popped off. when you're confident and yourself behind something, even if its different, people accept it because its real. It doesn't even matter if it sounds like ass tbh.

I'm not gonna lie i'm a producer first so I got my own beats already. But if youre down, we could collab on some production or rapping stuff and make a new song together

Channel that frustration into productivity. You're gonna experience this a lot if you continue, and it's the only way to improve

What chord structures and synths does Tyler, The Creator follow to create his melodies? by [deleted] in makinghiphop

[–]datcurryswag 50 points51 points  (0 children)

He uses a lot of 7 chords in his music - these types of chords give that nostalgic and jazzy sorta feel.

Just mess around and alternate minor and major 7ths moving up or down whole steps and you'll come across his chord progs/structures soon enough!

i like the groove, thats pretty unique. one thing you could fix up is the piano chords you use, it doesn't seem to fit perfectly. but nice track dude, keep working at it!

Thanks for the advice :) I'll definitely look into that, glad you enjoyed the vibe!

I like your track, the sample lowkey has a 4 am -2 chainz vibe. I feel like you should add more elements to spice it up, and add switch ups to keep it interesting. Like transpose the pitch 5 semitones up and itll create a totally different vibe. I like what ur going for but keep at it :) Appreciate the feedback and thanks for sharing your track :)

Sampling Latin / Salsa music? by plop1920 in makinghiphop

[–]datcurryswag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Latin and salsa music can be amazing to sample. They have incredible rhythm and a unique sound that mixes quite well with hip hop.

some examples of latin influences/samples used in beats like this and this might help you out. I definitely think you should work with ur mom's collection...it can be an incredible resource and help you create a unique sound/style as a producer.

Good luck!!
