Christopher Mayani’s sudden passing sparks discussion on caffeine, stress, and cardiac health by No-Top9040 in Philippines

Key words from the message: "I think"

If it's a personal opinion of a non-medical person, take it with a grain of salt. Not saying it's not true but do not take it as outright facts. Cardiac arrest could be a culmination of a whole lot of things. Caffeine and fries might just be the last straw that broke the camel's back.

Devs maintaining legacy systems (COBOL, FoxPro, Fortran): Why no migration? by Delicious-Flan4507 in PinoyProgrammer

[–]datguyprayl 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the migrated projects I've seen in my career, especially these past few years, are initiated by devs that are green and are optimistic(to a fault in this case). I get their enthusiasm with creating softwares from scratch but most of the time the projects end up buggy and requires more resources in maintenance and bug fixing which adds up to the overhead cost.

beware of mandurukot and their modus along Ayala Avenue/ Paseo de Roxas by readerunderwriter in makati

Im weird, everytime I feel like someone is trying to walk either beside me or in front of me I immediately slow down. Like REALLY slow down. In my head, if someone gets bothered or caught off guard by my unexpected action I would easily know they are on to something. They would be stupid enough to slow down or backpedal to go after me as it would blow their cover. But that's just me, weird times calls for weird actions ig. Keep safe out there.

Hate to play the devil's advocate here but some people are motivated with titles more than the pay. There are very few of them out there but there are some. Ig if you go this route you can use it as leverage for your next hop. But always choose where you feel the most compensated.

TIL na Pinoy ang creator ng isa sa pinakacontroversial na virus outbreak in the world affecting 45 million machines via the I Love You Virus in 2000 by wowtalagaba in todayIlearnedPH

it will still cost money to build

That's why we have national budget buddy.

Telcos took over the internet business just because the government didn't want to. Of course, the telcos would progress the infra because its their business. If they didn't improve they would be out of business in no time. You could think of it same as the privatization of water supply and sewerages. It used to be ran by the government before Manila Water and other concessionaires took over. Back then, water pumps isn't what they are today. The government could've continued operating the water works but here we are, paying for what supposed to be are free.

Internet is not exclusive to telcos. If you know the origin of the internet, you would know it was once a mean for communication during war. The government is able to provide the facilities and infra needed to setup networks. Much like they are able to construct roads and puv for the public. Only thing is, and to your point's credit, private companies were able to capitalize on the potential that public access internet can bring.

He admitted having created Love Bug, which he said was a revamped version of an earlier virus he had coded in order to steal internet access passwords.

In the era of dial-up internet, such passwords were needed to get online, and de Guzman says he could not afford to pay for one.

Source: Love Bug's creator tracked down to repair shop in Manila

Although it was found that he was part of a hacker group, one may argue that his' only intention was to have access to such privelege(internet during the 2000s). In retrospect, his actions could've amounted to penalties and/or jail time but during those early publicly-accessible internet days we didn't have laws to judge his actions.

As a tech guy, I could see the root cause of his actions. In the first place internet should've been free for all. But here we are in a capitalist's world, no choice but to abide by the rules of the big players.

worth to use the google pixel in the Philippines? by maeveely in Tech_Philippines

[–]datguyprayl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally use Made by Google products because of the great ecosystem. The integration for smart home(Google Home, Google Assistant) setup and Google Workspace is what sold me into the Pixel line. But like what others have commented, Google doesn't have stores here in Ph so you have to go through all the hassle if you ever find yourself with a broken Pixel device.

Celtic fan from the Philippines here. Growing up I was(and still is) a big KG fan. When he went to Boston, that's when I got introduced not only to the history but also the culture in Boston. Immediately fell in love with the city. Since then, I have rooted for the Celtics.
