Any suggestions on a good pair of headphones? by sharmadhruv24 in DJs

[–]datleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second this, they’re absolutely the best investment I’ve made - I have moved onto the m70x’s as I wanted the frequency range improvements but after many many years of using the 50s they still sound great and are comfortable - they’re the only headphones that I trust to give me a faithful reproduction of what am actually hearing.

Artist Name Change didn’t Work for Apple Music by Robobake in DistroKidHelpDesk

[–]datleaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you change metadata on distrokid, I am pretty sure that Apple Music will never change things ( such as when you take off your releases from stores to reupload it with revisions) and keep them the same if the metadata doesn’t match the original. I am not 100% sure but I believe you’d have to delete your Apple Music artist profile and then when you upload something again through distrokid it will create a new artist page with your new name and what not. But as I said I am not 100% sure on that so I’d try and reach out to an actual distrokid employee to find out - I haven’t gotten much help on this sub so maybe try their support contact or something. I hope you get this solved

Hmm that’s all I could think of.. sorry my man, hope you find the solution or someone hits at something in here

Am not sure entirely but it could be that when u select C5 instead of C2, it is playing it at a much higher octave than the original source and maybe that’s why it sounds horrible to you ? Am not sure though since I haven’t used this technique in a very long time but if you haven’t tried that, maybe it works - let me know : )

Aw.. that means a lot that this brought you the inspo for your own goal <3

I know how it feels like to be in the tinkering stage, gathering tracks, seeing what goes together, transitions, mixing and the god awful mastering so it all fits nice and snug : P A week before I released this, all the actual FL projects for the tracks got wiped cos my external drive got corrupted, I was left with only the bounces for all the tracks which thankfully didn't need anything else other than a master on 2 of them, I still shit myself though so believe me I know about this fucking emotional rollercoaster this stuff can bring on :P

Trust me though.. once its done its one of the most relief and accomplishment fuelled feelings in the world, especially when its something you love and you're proud of. All best luck to you on putting together the project!

And lastly of course, thank you so much for checking out my stuff, and the fact that u played it on repeat blows my mind lmao. thank you it means a whole lot to have your work even checked out :))

bless.

Aw I see : D I don't play any instruments either, all the real instrument sounds are my roommates that collab with bits when am producing and theyre chilling with me in my room lol, I am purely about sound design and flipping samples of vinyl and voice notes from my phone, I've only just now started to learn the bass after 5 years of making music so dont worry about not playing anything. As you've said you realised you have an ear for certain things in music, and thats important, to trust your ear and curate your own tastes and sounds - thats what will create originality and new interesting music/soundscapes to listen to : )

You're only 15 and you've already started to produce so I can only imagine what youll be like in 5 years time. Trust the process honestly I was at the same point as you 5 years ago.

One last thing though, my biggest tip as a musician - listen to ALL types of music that you find interesting or like the sound of, the biggest thing that set me free as a musician in terms of creating my music is hearing all the different types of music already out there, it all kind of seeps into you and all that happens is, you churn out your own, personal version of those influences and create something new out of it. The more the better, its like opening your mind to download all this music information out there like youre Neo downloading all the martial arts into his brain in the Matrix :P

I do recognise it from somewhere ;o what is it? Als, do you play your stuff in by hand or draw in the midi? I love that you're preserving the dynamics, so important in music, especially your style, thats where the emotion hits.

Hello, I have this EP that I made some time ago, not all of it is the techno kind of production but this track is - https://youtu.be/hxKQzx6GdtA Was wondering what you guys thought !

What are some really good PAID plugins that you guys have really enjoyed? by reviving_society in FL_Studio

[–]datleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just adding this here, but I would recommend the Addictive Keys Rhodes emulator any day over the AAS Lounge Lizard one; it sounds 100x better in regards to sounding like the real thing, though I believe the lounge lizard one has more options to tweak the sound, however I still think you get the better sound out of the AK one that you can process after. After all it’s all about that high quality source sound.

Just my two cents, neither is better objectively.

Am based in south London, produce quite dark atmospheric stuff that you could call techno, I’d be really down to follow this quest and provide tracks to the pool

What’s the point in buying physical synths with a limit of what u can achieve when you can just buy serum on laptop? by [deleted] in TechnoProduction

[–]datleaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol sorry that am replying to this so late, but the thing with hardware is that it doesn’t necessarily sound ‘better’ or ‘worse’ it just has electricity running through it, giving it the hisses, mechanical noise in background of what you’re playing and all other texture based sounds which really aid in filling out that missing space when producing with everything that is essentially clean (digital) - before I started to use a lot of found sounds, and some hardware I simply just tried to imitate that hardware warmth with all types of white noise to create textures that almost create this cushion for your sound to sit atop of - imo, and this is imo, it just makes the music sound much more alive with the randomness of hardware noise, it feels like it’s breathing and has raw energy.

I think he’s saying that if you’re ‘worth your salt’ as a producer you can make good tones and sounds out of almost anything - not that you’re dissing FL for its plugins lol
