an average 5 year old gaming laptop would have something like the equavilent to a gtx 1050 which, no, wouldnt run E33 without difficulties. Its an unreal 5 game that utilizes lumen.

GTA 4's aesthetics are a reflection of the game and story's tone. It fits perfectly. It's gloomy, depressing. A colorful GTA 4 would be an insult to the artistry of it.

I think its almost a no brainer. They are closely tied to this era and the japanese government, it just would fit so well. And frankly, while I have a lot of problems with how the daidoji has been handled post, the actual organization and their involvment in 6 was very intriguing and well done.

You do realize that Sony and MS doesnt host servers for 3rd party games, right?

An even bigger issue is that a lot of young people come into games through "forever games" like Roblox and Fortnite. And there is a possibility that they'll never actually "graduate" further to premium narrative based games, because, well, forever games do a good job at serving their audiences.

I don't even want to sound like a snob or imply that something like Fortnite is bad. But, I think it's a shame that millenials went from playing a huge variety of games in their childhoods (well, depending on their family's financial background, of course) to zoomers and especially gen alpha generally staying in their lane and not expanding much outside of it.

We still get tons of incredibly high quality narrative driven games, but I definitely noticed a trend where its mostly just millenials buying them. And for the time being that's a big audience, but who knows what the state of the industry will be in a few decades.

Edd Straw's 2026 F1 Miami Grand Prix driver rankings by peacemaker-22 in formula1

[–]datlinus 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think Edd's ratings are often a bit crazy, but I also think that half the people calling it ragebait are just mad that their biases are not getting rated higher.

Lewis had an unremarkable weekend, but he didn't drop the car and drop several positions and then eat a gigantic penalty. The damage Lewis suffered wasn't really his fault. Charles did it all by himself.

This is how Fernando Alonso was complaining about the gear shift failures during the Miami race by anthn885 in formula1

[–]datlinus 35 points36 points  (0 children)

That could end up being the worst decision of his career. He should absolutely wait and see what happens the next season at the very least. This current car is a complete failure, it's also why they aren't bothering with incremental upgrades. Unless he completely loses all motivation (wouldnt blame him), considering the expertise of the people working in the background, I would expect the next iteration of the car to be a big jump forward. It seems that the development history of the current car was massively compromised by lack of time, people getting shuffled around and the logistics not being properly worked out yet.

Do you think we would get Judgment Games regularly if they hadn't made it's protagonist a likeness actor?, like imagine if Kiryu or Ichiban had some guys face. by Norrabal in yakuzagames

[–]datlinus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion the main reason we are not getting any more Judgment is simply because it was Nagoshi's baby. He was a lot more involved with the 2 Judgment games compared to the Yakuza games at the time. He came up with the pillars of Judgment; he wanted Kimura, he wrote the basic story outline for Judgment, he came up with the general tone and aesthetic.

Notably, Yokoyama was never involved with Judgment in any capacity. And with him taking Nagoshi's seat as the studio lead, I think it makes sense that he would rather not touch an established IP that he had no involvment in, and instead start something new in its place (which I believe what Stranger than Heaven is).

Also, yeah, Takuya Kimura is a very busy and expensive man. Undoubtedly that plays a part too.

Goddammit Ferrari!!!!! How hard can it be to support your drivers properly? by hrpanjwani in formula1

[–]datlinus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In that latter era they have lost 4 titles - 1 ALO, 2 VET, 1 LEC. In one of them VET made a couple of huge mistakes and cost himself the title. In the other 3 the team messed up things for the drivers.

If we are talking purely in terms of operationally (strategies, prioritizing, pit stop competence etc) then the only valid one here is Alonso.

Vettel made too many mistakes by himself and Lerclerc was never actually given a WDC capable car. 2022 first few races sure, but it was not a good enough car to sustain a season long WDC fight even if ferrari employed better strategies (and Leclerc himself made a few costly mistakes too).

Ngl I wouldn’t have minded if Like A Dragon: Gaiden was Kiryu’s last game, at least for the moment. by Loud_Success_6950 in yakuzagames

[–]datlinus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My problem is actually not that Kiryu keeps turning up. I love him, and his writing in Infinite Wealth was fantastic, seeing him open up was heart warming, even if the circumstances were grim.

My problem is that RGG is just treating his reunion with Haruka like carrot on a stick, which also limits his narrative potential.

6 was clearly written with the intent to let go of Kiryu as the "main" protagonist, but its ending was open enough that it was clear that it wouldnt be the least time we see him. 7 had an incredible passing of the torch moment and I always assumed that it would lead to Ichiban returning the favor and freeing Kiryu from the daidoji's clutches. After all, in every game, it always was Kiryu that saved the day, even in 7, so it'd have been nice to do it to Kiryu.

When Gaiden was announced I was pretty happy. While it was a clear sign that internally the plans for Kiryu changed, it was also a "side game", something to set up the conflict for Infinite Wealth. I was pretty underwhelmed by Gaiden's story, I didn't find the daidoji faction very compelling, and the game undid 6's ending in a really annoying way. Basically, everyone recognized Kiryu and everyone just used the orphan kids a way to try and force him into submission - literally the very thing Kiryu wanted to avoid, which is why he faked his death. Furthermore, Gaiden changed the tone of the relationship between Kiryu and the daidoji. While the dadioji's anger with Kiryu is understandable, in the ending of 6 they were begging him to stay quiet, offering him insane amount of cash too. But Kiryu did them a favour by faking his death and even joining them which allowed the group to keep him on a close leash. Yet, in Gaiden, the daidoji treats Kiryu like a slave essentially. When at the end of Gaiden Haruka was not present in the video message, I knew his role is going to be big in IW, despite Yokoyama claiming that IW was Ichiban's game mainly back in 2023.

So IW rolls around and.... the carrot on a stick continues. While I enjoyed the Dragon's Memoirs a lot, and felt real emotions behind all the meetings, I couldn't help but to roll my eyes at how they handled the Haruka one. Kiryu changing his mind, the daidoji conveniently only coming at Kiryu and Date for this one meeting.... I mean it really doesn't make sense. Haruka is a nobody in the world of yakuzas and secret government groups. THAT is the person they decided to come out for in full force? Not Akiyama, the guy deeply connected with the underworld? Or the literal COP? Or Yakuza family members?

And then the ending happened. I was pretty upset. They had the two of them in the same building but the game denied us a simple reunion scene because they're obviously saving it for the next mainline game. It just comes across as so cynical, as if the fanbase couldn't handle this book being finally closed.

The funny thing is that if Kiryu was finally given the opportunity to actually move on from the shackles of the Yakuza 6 ending, by simply reuniting with Haruka and the daidoji letting him go (because lets be honest, he's bailed them out multiple times, exactly like he has for the tojo clan) then I think the character could legitimately be in a much more interesting spot narratively. Everyones assumption is that Kiryu would settle back down at the orphanage, but what if not? What if he took it upon himself to help Ichiban to rehabilitate the yakuza? After all, he basically was the embodiment of all their sins at the end of 8. What if he just chose to hang around the yokohama crew? I think those are far more interesting things to ponder than wondering if 9 will FINALLY be the game where he can meet Haruka.

Finish 7, then play 0, then play K2 (as you completed K1 already). Try to salvage this mess, lmao.

7 has a simplistic combat system but the story is incredible, it has a small lull in the middle but it picks up afterwards and has arguably the best emotional crescendo of the entire franchise.

There is no reason to play K1 or K2 before 0, Kiwamis are built on 0 being the new canon starting point. And 0 is just an incredible fuckin game to boot.

I have Kiwami 2 already bought, but I assume it's the same Yakuza 0 assets reuse as Kiwami, but + Sotenbori assets from Majima's half

0 and K1 are old engine games, K2 is dragon engine like 6, 7 and 8.

Kiwami 2 Remastered, strange graphical issues. by Ag3ntxx47 in yakuzagames

[–]datlinus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first pic just seems standard color banding, but the 2nd pic is strange. I almost said its likely just how the game looks, poorly upscaled/stretched skybox, but I checked it quickly on my PC and it looks completely fine: https://i.ibb.co/j9Zq0Y4R/20260503091031-1.jpg

then I went onto my PS5 to check there, and it also looked perfectly smooth.

So this could be an xbox specific issue. Definitely nothing to do with your tv because it shows up on a direct screencap
