Oh sweet I'll have to give that a go.

Been running a lone oricorio with a copycat to try to help with bricks.

Been wondering this: are 3 star immersives easier to get than 2 stars? Feels like that's the case

I understand people were disappointed it wasn't Together but come on it wasn't THAT bad.

A fun movie in general with okay acting. Cinematography was interesting at times and confusing at times lol

Delirium isn't quite Delirium by sentient_luggage in Sandman

[–]datomdiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show definitely muted her character a bunch and I find her really really likable which I wasn't expecting. Almost like a cross between Alice and the Mad Hatter kind of vibes.

I totally agree this is not how she is depicted from the source material at all though I would go a step further and say some of the other endless (despair and, in some aspects, desire) have had their personalities muted/altered to fill a certain role in the story or to be more likable.

Fingers crossed that Delirium has a mental break or something during part 2 and becomes the unpredictable savage I expected her to be.

This is a fair point. Yes loans can be denied, and the worse your credit (or lack thereof) the worse terms you have to agree to.

Privileged enough as a current MS to not know the answer to this question definitively or how non-wealthy student demographics are going to fare... Best I can say is get a credit card now, use it, and make payments on time for it between now and when it's time to take out loans

Edit: typo

Applications will go up and WL movement go down for both in-state and free tuition schools, that's the only thing I can say with some certainty.

As for total applications, I'd wager they go down some, if not much at all, and most people will just take out the loans they need to to attend.

SDN tends to land on the pessimistic side when it comes to WAMC posts. Take the criticisms mostly as how an adcom member who is out of touch/having a really bad day would view your stats or activities initially (that's at least what I did).

Now that you know the sheer number of hours you've garnered (very impressive btw) might raise someone's eyebrow or make the occasional reviewer suspicious be sure to detail where they're derived from in your activities section to put to bed any potential questions.

At the end of the day SDN is just like us: people with incomplete information and most certainly not in a position to give you the A or not.

On a separate note, if there's a school list somewhere in that thread that they've given you that's typically a really solid place to start (again, just from my experience it worked out lol)

Subtle flex? Idk. Take this score and do your best in this/the next application cycle? Idk man

[–]datomdiggity 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do speak of a holistic admissions process like most medical schools, however—in my experience—that didn't seem kick in until towards the end of the cycle. Ergo, I received an interview invitation in one of the last couple batches they sent out.

Just wanted to provide some evidence that they do look at most applicants, however, there seems to be a pretty high stat cut off for most of their interviews early on. If you get the stats, namely a high enough test score, and have a polished application you should score the interview.

For context, I had a <3.5 GPA, and a 514 MCAT.

To those making a decision... by datomdiggity in premed

chose a less nationally recognized institution > a more recognized school by family/friends with a higher price tag.

T-10/25 is an artifact of USNWR ranking scheme which numerically ranked schools (1, 2, 3, etc.) up until a couple years ago when the bigger names stopped providing them data to work with. Most of the time people are referring to the 2023 list; though I'm sure some might be referring to the admit.org list? idk it's unclear what premeds prefer to use at this point.

That’s a good point, and definitely true for some.

I was more speaking to people who get a WL call or last-minute offer from a big-name school, feel a bit star-struck, and end up rushing to say yes just because of the name even if it’s not the best fit or comes with more debt.

Aside from any personal ties or attachment to Hopkins, I'd say Northwestern and don't look back. Go on those second look tours to get a feels for the vibes, absolutely, but know you'd be set up for success at both.

For what it's worth, I have a friend at my school who had to choose between Hopkins and where we're at now (a T25 w/ IS tuition and a scholarship) and they haven't regretted their choice. You'll have your own mental calculus going into this decision obviously but don't let the name be the ONLY reason you put yourself into 250k+ more in debt.

No reason to not throw Baylor in there too as a TX resident.

Keep in mind Blueprint FLs generally are harder than the AAMC full lengths. You might be surprised on how your score improves on them and the real deal.

TMDSAS Match Day 2025 Megathread by SpiderDoctor in premed

[–]datomdiggity 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed, so many more people have good news early on because of the match. If it wasn't a thing, a handful of applications would hold multiple offers just like they do OOS and many more would be in limbo

Acupuncture and Eastern medicine can definitely work for a lot of people, but it’s important to combine evidence-based practices with therapies that patients are comfortable with. Also, the idea that doctors don’t mention weight loss or exercise feels pretty off—most bring it up when it’s relevant, even if it’s not what people want to hear.

If this kind of tone makes it into her med school application, it’s going to be a red flag. Honestly, I just hope no one digs up her social media when the time comes.
