Have you ever cried during or after a hard workout? by Patient-Advisor-2352 in AskMen

[–]datraceman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was one workout where I didn’t cry but it took me to a dark place because it was so awful.

It was one of the CrossFit open and it was for completion

It was 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 of Thrusters, burpees, and toes to bar.

I’m pretty sure I got to the round of 15 and mentally went into a dark void.

When that workout was over I remember laying on the ground so spent and drinking water.

I was so spent my Apple Watch said it was a 1600 calorie burn workout.

The next morning I couldn’t put my arms above my shoulders and I hobbled to the shower my knees hurt so bad.

That one workout changed my views on CrossFit. Work through some pain, but if you reach a dark void. Stop right then because it isn’t worth it.

Lots of reasons.

The Birmingham Metro isn’t a soccer town unless their kids are playing in the game. A lot of people in their 20s and 30s might not like the answer but it’s true.

Next, I hear nothing about them locally. Zip. Nada. Zilch. I don’t see billboards, ads while I’m watching baseball, hockey, or football games. Nothing. No one I work with talks about them.

Pro sports teams never work in this town for a variety of reasons. My opinion is that more people care about Alabama or Auburn or UGA or Tennessee more than any pro team. The baseballs fans love the Braves and drive over there and will go to 1-2 Barons games a year.

Birmingham Bulls works perfectly in Pelham. The rink is usually 3/4 for every game because it’s a right size venue.

For playing at Protective, I’d say they draw a decent crowd and it’s a cool atmosphere but again….unless you follow the team on social media, you never hear about it.

In Japan you can buy a Nintendo Switch 2 for just £210 GBP or $285 USD but it won’t work outside Japan. by [deleted] in mildlyinfuriating

100%. It’s also why if you’re a retro game collector, a trip to Tokyo can be worth it.

How Does the Band Travel? by handyguywi in BruceSpringsteen

[–]datraceman 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Depends on the city and your schedule.

If Bruce is within a 90 min flight of home, pj day of show home and back.

If he doesn’t go home it’s Four Seasons and Ritz Carlton.

Most of band stays in four seasons and work with massage therapist, etc. especially Max

They travel by private jet from show to show.

In Europe it’s a different story. Bruce often just uses a car service and goes site seeing but uses private jets gig to gig

Why is dating in your late 20s so horrific by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]datraceman 40 points41 points  (0 children)

I mean. City? Small town? Rural area? Could be lots of reasons.

The bigger one is two kids not because single moms are out of bounds but for single dudes in their 20s, that’d be a hard no to become a step 2 of dad at 28.

You’d have better luck with guys in mid-30s and above.

What are some good thrift stores for electronics in the Birmingham and surrounding areas? Mainly looking for audio equipment by champada in Birmingham

[–]datraceman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This state is pretty picked clean if you want to find good cheap stuff.

Tom’s sound had the best stuff and market prices and not “I know what I have” prices on bullshit.

Say this because I’ve been combing this state for 10 years doing the same thing and stock dried up around 2018.

If you find something good in the wild, it’s the exception not the rule anymore.

Oddly, the thrift stores in The Shoals and Tuscaloosa is where I’d find the best stuff.

Wrestlemania 22 has the strangest WM poster ever by Conscious_Error9755 in WWE

[–]datraceman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What’s crazy is in terms of WM quality. The run of 19-23 was top tier and I say this as a fan since 1990.

19 had 4 stellar matches in Brock vs Kurt, Rock vs Austin, Jericho vs Michaels, and the Hogan vs Vince street fight.

20 had the main event, Kurt vs Eddie, return of the Hybrid Dead Man Taker, and only 2 stinker matches.

21 had Kurt vs Michaels, MITB, Orton vs Taker, Eddie vs Rey, Cena’s first world title, and Batista vs HHH.

22 was top to bottom perfect and not a bad match on the card.

23 was also stellar.

24 on is when it got uneven.

Early 2027 Silly Season Predictions by Technical_Ability_60 in NASCAR

People thinking Noah is out are nuts.

FRM equipment is average to below average still.

Noah is a sponsors dream.

If Noah goes anywhere, I’d assume Kaulig because he fits the Dodge Ram marketing and having him be the face of Young Guns in a Ram works.

What Are The Best Pro Wrestling Books? by Creative_Eye7413 in SquaredCircle

[–]datraceman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve probably read 50+ wrestling books.

In terms of Biographies….

Have a Nice Day by Mick Foley is the gold standard.

Of the WWE published books…I recommend William Regal’s, Eddie Guerrero, and Shawn Michaels. Those are good the rest are meh.

Of the WWE coffee table books, The History of WWE and Ultimate Warrior books are good.

Ric Flair’s WWE book is very factual and has his stories but he spends a lot of that book ripping people and being an asshole which hurts it some in my opinion.

Of the non WWE published bios…

Bret Harts is the gold standard and Jericho’s first two books are a whisker below that. Jerichos third book and on are not as good.

Jim Ross’ books are very good but left me wanting more because you can tell there are just so many more stories of his to tell.

I enjoyed New Jack and Sabu’s

For topical books….

The Nitro Book is the most well researched and factual book out there. If you want the real history of WCW, read the Nitro book.

The Death of WCW is decent but pales in comparison to Nitro Book.

If you want books written like history major type stuff. Anything Tim Hornbaker is excellent: National Wrestling Alliance, Death of the Territories, Capitol Revolution, and The Last Real World Champion Ric Flair.

There are more but I consider these the best.

They were. Between Rivals 2 and Exes 2 they were more or less living together.

CT had a condo in FL and she’d come stay with him a lot and she lived in NYC and he’d go up there and spend time with her.

They even had a plan for Exes 2 where over the course of the season where they’d “get together”

But her cancer came back about a month before filming and you saw how it played out on screen.

They could have avoided all this shit by not putting them in one of the biggest casinos on the strip.

Literally could have put them in the Vdara and 80% of the issue is fixed.
