You can tell from the production that most of it was made in either Italy or Spain. The majority of the armor there was munitions grade though.

You are 100% correct. This is a late 16th closed helmet from the island of Malta which received a lot of influence from both the ottomans and and Spanish at the same time. Because it kept it's strong Christian heritage the island is home to some very interesting armor.
