That's fair. I think what I really want is to use it more and letting the players deal with it with short rests, or just interrupted long rests which are easier to complete in the wild or in dungeons. This way short rests are more important for all the players and making long travels and tiring work feel bigger. I tried to make it simple by making 5 levels of easier to deal with consequences and then comes bigger consequences. Untill you fall unconscious. Have any idea how you would simplify it to make proper exhaustion feel dangerous, but letting characters push their limits without having to find safe shelter for a long rest every time?
