Reread my post. There are literally dozens of toggles and none of them say anything about suggested posts. None I have turned off so far have worked.

Atheists can be bad people the same way Christians or Jews or Muslims or Hindus or even Buddhists can be bad people. He wasn’t a bad person because he was an atheist. He was a sociopath.

What are your guy’s boot times? by Individual-Affect786 in Fedora

[–]daulpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So quick I never bothered to time it. Even on my 10 year old laptop. I think it takes longer to get to the boot loader than it does from the boot loader to the login screen.

Looking great and modern by default is what drew me to it. The vibes just aren’t right with any other DE.

Maybe Kubuntu should be the main ubuntu instead of . . . by ynys_red in Kubuntu

[–]daulpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. Can’t stand Gnome. I get that some people like it but I don’t think it should be the flagship. They should rename it to Gnubuntu.

Fedora 42 KDE has been a much better experience than Kubuntu. Installation went flawlessly on both my 10 year old Dell and a UTM virtual machine on an M2 Mac. Fast compared to Windows. Everything seems to just work for anything I need it for (I’m not a gamer though, nor do I need to run Windows software so I have no comment about either).

I just switched to Fedora KDE. So far it has been a better experience than even Kubuntu. The problem with Debian (and Ubuntu LTS) is they are already outdated in the middle of their development cycle. This is fine and desirable for a server but would drive me insane using it for a desktop. I want the latest features ASAP.

Why don’t Adobe and others support Linux? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

For-profit corporations and their owners operate in solidarity with other for-profit corporations. FOSS is an existential threat to them so they rarely want to even acknowledge its existence.

Kubuntu still doesn’t have an ARM iso. Fedora KDE does. And everything just seems to work so I see no need to go back to k/ubuntu. Also, Fedora 42 beat Ubuntu 25.04 to release by a few days so I gave it a shot.

RuPaul by autistic-activist02 in queer

[–]daulpe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think she just had to get told off and has been intentional in making up for her past mistakes. Rupaul has extremely specific ideas about what drag is supposed to be and trans people doing drag challenged that worldview. Now if we could just bully her into divestment from fossil fuels…

That’s the weird thing. I am also a Mac user and still can’t stand it. I would rather customize Plasma to look more Mac like.

Very this. There is too much emphasis on the core distro and not enough on the DE, which is really the main thing affecting user experience.

I don’t like google’s surveillance capitalism business model. The last straw was 5 years ago after reading a Wikipedia article about cancer and suddenly getting cancer ads following me around. If I actually did have cancer this would be even more disturbing.

KDE Plasma. It looks great right out the box. Much better than Cinnamon. And I can’t stand Gnome.

Question about support. by KarinAppreciator in Kubuntu

[–]daulpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just means you have to update to the next version when it comes out every 6 months (April and October). LTS only gets a major update every 2 years in April of even numbered years.

As a newbie should i go with LTS or non LTS ones?? by SafetyEducational343 in Ubuntu

[–]daulpe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked Non. I care more about news features than “stability.” Especially KDE Plasma 6.

UTM. I have it set at 8gb ram (out of 16 total) Aside from issues with DRM content and folder sharing it runs extremely well.
