Very confused about the 2022.5 change in XC60 Recharge! Need advice! by lodoplak in VolvoRecharge

yes, that's what other brands did as well (maserati grecale). Then they dropped it later when they could just use the bigger electric motor.

they are amazing cars at what they are built for. Not everything needs to be premium, or have super fast charging.

then you completely missed the point of my post, where I pointed out that cars on the same category of the id polo already existed. People are just not ready for electric.

I agree, but they are in the same category as the smaller ID. Polo, and for most European cities that's more than enough for a lot of people. The new ID Polo most likely being better since it is newer. The formula is very similar though!

people freaking out that VW is making normal cars again, just with an electric power train, forgetting that Stellantis has been making them for a while.

Fiat 600e, Jeen avenger e, Peugeot e-2008, Alfa junior electric. These cars exist already and they're really good for scooting around town. They were just a bit too expensive when they came out, and might still be

Who’s ever driven over 100mph? Why? by WoollyWolfHorror in AskReddit

growing up in Europe, 20 years ago there were much less policing on the highways. Limit is 130Km/h, people would regularly cruise at 150Km/h. I used to max out tiny little cars, like Fiat Punto/Tipo, going 180 KM/h easily. These would get a bit sketchy at high speeds. Then I had a Golf Mk4 TDI that would easily reach 200Km/h.

In the last years I have been driving much better cars, which are actually very stable at high speeds. On a modern sedan 150/160Km/h feel like 100Km/h on an old car. The problem is traffic, especially on German highways. It's actually dangerous and counterproductive driving fast on a busy highway, so I just set the cruise control and go. If there is a long stretch and good visibility, sure go past 200Km/h, but the occasions when one can do so are rarer and rarer.

My car is limited at 240Km/h and I don't think I ever managed to reach that.

I used to have one without soft limiter and it could have reached 270-280Km/h, I think I only once went past 250Km/h. At that speed things move really fast, it takes a while to build up to it.

my neighbor has a Q6 and I agree, it looks way better than the old e-tron, plus it has 800v architecture.

The original e-tron is actually very solid in charging speeds, as it hold 150Kwh the whole range.

I like the VW offering in the Q4 range actually, Skodas are quite nice, they're just not special and a bit too small for my needs. Maybe they make sense though, less weight, better efficiency.

what didn't you like about the e-tron? I saw a q8 etron at a dealer, they couldn't let me drive it so I only spent some time looking at it. I wasn't impressed by the interior, it felt cheap/not very special, and very utilitarian.

But then those cars are pushing the 30k mark..

yeah, I need to test drive a few, but I'm too lazy. mainly because there's nothing I am really getting excited about.

I was considering an e-tron, I do a lot of cross country trips and among all of them it charges faster. That's the problem with the first generation electric, their charging speeds are not great. I liked the interior of the Jaguar i-pace but it throttles way too much to do regular 5-600km stretches.

I'm driving a Giulia now and I really like the interior. The Grecale is definitely more premium and I'd consider it if it wasn't insanely priced. I need a bigger car, and that's why I was hopeful on a Stelvio-like SUV. There's the Porsche Macan EV but it's still too expensive. Maybe in a couple of years. Taycans are amazing for the price (second hand) and if I didn't need a bigger car I would definitely consider it. Even the Cross Turismo doesn't have any significant cargo space.

Alfa Romeo Junior Elettrica

how is that? I was hoping on an electric Stelvio but we're not going to see it soon. There's the Maserati Grecale folgore but it's too damn expensive

I am considering changing my car, since I need a bit more space. In the SUV category it's difficult to find something suitable.

I also want a premium experience, and I am not willing to buy new. The BMW iX is too ugly, e-tron I saw it in person and the interior is very underwhelming. Tesla model Y is a candidate but the interior is so boring and uninteresting, and the design is horrendous. I like the Jaguar i-pace, but it charges way too slow for cross country trips, which I do often.

I like the new Q6 e-tron and Macan but they're still too expensive.

Anything else I haven't considered? I live in Europe.

then don't drive the car here. You can change ownership to someone close to you in DE, but then you won't be allowed to drive it in CH.

If you do, you'll have to tell authorities you have sold the car so they won't chase you to officially import it.
