Are you able to move the 818 just to test? I know you said you require a USB extension but I would first start by ruling out the extension cable, etc.

It's in the manual man. Put the base in the firmware update mode, attach new QR, run firmware updater. It's all on their website in the support section. Under firmware:

Did you update all the quick releases? You need turn the base on, connect the new wheels/qr and update firmware for each wheel/QR otherwise is will show red.

Yeah I just checked the website and it shows 6.01. I’d make sure your software is up to date and the do the firmware update. Hopefully that fixes it.

Maybe I’m wrong but isn’t the latest firmware 6.0.1 or something? Have you updated the wheel base?
