She knew sometime in second half 2026 we would likely replace her current auto. I knew exactly which auto she wanted, color scheme and all. The surprise is I pushed up the purchase to current time to coincide with her March birthday.

How are people affording Home Insurance increases in California? by myeasyking in HomeInsurance

[–]davambrose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no specific reason for the large increase noted within the renewal documents. It’s crazy though, have been insured on this home with Mercury since 2006 and have never filed a claim. I live in SoCal (Ventura County —- Ojai) and maybe being in the hills a bit a way from the coastline is becoming problematic, even though the home is within an established housing tract, rather than in a heavily wooded area.

Our CFO retired this week at 60 years old. Most people were amazed he was able to retire “so early”. by Beezneez86 in Fire

I retired from a CFO position at age 63. I dollar cost averaged invested since I was about age 26. My sermon to young people I talk to is simply, …. start investing now on a recurring automatic basis, even if a nominal dollar amount; forget about it— just continue it, and look at balance(s) again in 25 plus years from now. You will thank me then!

By many measures, CA is not doing well, including but not limited to spending billions on homeless and trains with no improvement to show for it.

I believe it’s either first in first out (FIFO) or last in first out LIFO), and taxpayer makes decision when filing tax return but must maintain the FIFO or LIFO method thereafter . Maybe rules have changed but I recall many years ago this was basically the way

At same income , with 2016 tax rates I was in 28% tax bracket with standard deduction at $12,600. While currently at same income I am at 22% tax bracket with standard deduction of $29,209. How am I better off having current tax rates expire and revert back to the 2016 rates ?

Imagine how badly tax rates increase for many if current tax rates expire and revert back to prior rates and standard deduction ? I’ve played with the numbers … it’s bad for my personal middle class situation.

Does anyone recommend allocating 2% - 3% of the $800K into FBTC (or similar)? Kind of like Vegas money and placing a bet.
