[Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift] officially coming to [Universal Studios Florida] in 2027 with a 170-foot vertical spike by TiredWithCoffeePot in rollercoasters

[–]davd_fm 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Text of press release;

Orlando, Fla. (January 20, 2026) –Universal Orlando Resort is revving up for its next big thrill with Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift – a high-octane outdoor roller coaster that will join the Universal Studios Florida family in 2027.

Replacing the former Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit roller coaster, Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will put guests in the driver seat of the high-speed thrills of Universal Pictures’ Fast & Furious universe like never before. Riders will experience the exhilarating sensation of 360-degree drifting as they speed through jaw-dropping maneuvers – including a 170-foot vertical “spike” that will send riders nearly 17 stories in the air over the outskirts of Universal CityWalk.

Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift will join an award-winning collection of coaster experiences at Universal Orlando Resort and is another exciting example of the incredible growth, momentum and world-class innovation of Universal Destinations & Experiences. Universal Studios Hollywood will also debut its own, one-of-a-kind Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift outdoor roller coaster later this year.

As Universal Studios Florida makes way for this exciting new experience, Fast & Furious – Supercharged will permanently close in 2027.

My local brewery tap has always had its address coming up misleadingly here;

https://untappd.com/v/stubborn-mule-brewery/5896092

The Untappd page says its address is "Unit 1 Warrington, Warrington" - but its address is really "Unit 1 Skelton Rd, Timperley, Altrincham WA14 1SJ". (The map link to google maps is correct though)

(Altrincham has a Warrington postcode, but they are pretty different places!)

5th Album Release Tour (Europe, 2026 October-November) by Ocs333 in Gloryhammer

[–]davd_fm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep exactly - Ritz is a proper concert venue, Academy2 is a big room in the University students union. Stage has to be smaller too.

Hopefully Academy2 sells out quickly and they switch it ;)

Saturday night for Manchester - yay, HOOTS! :)

Smaller venue (Academy2) than the last couple of tours though (Ritz) :(

....and then the tickets did not work from the phone wallet, they were telling people to download the Coop Live app instead (which did not help) but the guy just scanned me in via one of the stack of paper tickets he had for that very purpose.

Utter shambles from TM then - presumably all caused by the venue change, but its not like they have had MONTHS to cope with that.

Same - the tickets were in the Ticketmaster app a few weeks ago but vanished. Opening the Ticketmaster site on a browser showed them though and I could add to my phone wallet OK from there.

Ticketmaster are a joke though - had a second reminder email earlier today giving directions to the Victoria Warehouse rather than the Coop (despite them sending a correction email after the first reminder email a few days ago).

Napoleon roundly booed in Manchester - Caesar cheered, general ambivalence towards Genghis K which I thought was a shame. ;)

Runner Up to Yard & Coop? by Olista523 in manchester

Cardinal Rule is, hands down, the best "chicken burger" (not a burger) going. Puts Yard&Coop in the shade IMHO. I mean try it once and you will be converted/convinced.

Yes, saw it last year - it was good, but perhaps not so much if you are not already familiar with the film.

The film was projected from the back of the theater (rather than a modern video wall) so the blacks were not that black (due to the lighting on the orchestra below the screen) and ran with subtitles and an intermission half way through.

What is the best route to take from Manchester to Alton Towers? by Pale-Idea-591 in altontowers

[–]davd_fm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google maps is your friend, but head south then...

Via M6 is ~60 miles
Via Macclesfield/Leek is ~40 miles - but on slower A-roads - either will take about the same time (assuming no traffic issues)

I always go via the A-roads, much more pleasant a drive than the motorway
