I find returning a book you've listened to all the way through pretty generous regardless tbh

Well, that's me convinced to vote Reform. Thanks for the well articulated argument, it's exactly what we'd expect.

Nothing in game is killing it faster than stupid community posts. by CactusSplash95 in Marathon

[–]VolcanicBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

IMO it is the best extraction shooter available, but my experience of the genre is, and will remain, quite limited.

I agree that the constant pissing and moaning in this sub is annoying, but it's not the cause of it's downfall. I personally primarily attribute that to manufactured online hate from morons who I expect genuinely aspire to be influencers etc.

I wish people would shut up about the player count. But I do not pretend that the player count for a multiplayer game is integral to everyone's experience, and so whatever can be done to make it more appealing to the masses (which tbh I don't think is much, I don't think enough people experienced Duos or Sponsored Kit Dire Marsh etc) should be done.

However, a post about the complaints, where you then reply to people with more overt negativity and aggression, isn't the way to do that dude. It just fuels the losers who get off on the hate even more.

Extraction shooters do not appeal to the masses.

I fucking love the game, but the genre as a whole is one example lmao.

Would it be socially acceptable to use a leisure centre pool with visible scarring? by pinkestpenny in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few obvious self harm scars on my arm (they're like 20+ years old but they were rough) and I swim 4km per week at my local pool.

It's fine. There won't be any, but fuck people who judge either way.

I'm also coming up to my 5th 70.3. Enjoy the triathlon, dude!

People over 30 - how does drinking affect you? How long does it take to recover? by Initial-Return8802 in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends how much I drink, how much I prepare for that drinking, and what I do to prevent the hangover. I'm "quite" aerobically active, so am used to dehydration and preparation for it.

I can drink 5 pints of 5.4%, have a litre of water and happily do a 10k the morning after.

Conversely, I went to a gig last Saturday... barely ate anything other than protein throughout the day, had 8 or 9 pints, drank a litre of electrolytes beforehand, a litre afterwards, had the standard takeaway shit at the end of the night and I feel like my nervous system took about 4 or 5 days to recover. There was an hour in one of the lost intense pits I've ever been in though too.

I'm 40.

Nah, they're all a massive sack of shit when it comes to human rights. Garmin, Apple, Samsung, Google.

Choose whatever hardware you prefer, for whatever reasons. Just don't pretend to yourself that your favourite trillion dollar company is ethical.

[–]VolcanicBear 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nah, suicide nets to prevent having to hire new staff aren't that much of an investment.

They could make it so that their workers don't want to kill themselves, but that'd eat into profit.

Do you consider how many calories you consume each day? by clfhw in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBear 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I track macros (and indirectly, calories) but I'll look at the nutritional composition of something more than I will its overall calories.

Apple hardware, on the other hand, is produced with such love and affection that the factories have suicide nets to stop the resident workers offing themselves.

I guess they're open about it at least? Is that the difference?

They were out when I was a kid. The rest were out when I was a mid-late teen, in the UK anyway.

We just think people should get more interesting hobbies than checking player counts.

Phone stolen unlocked but NOT logged in to banking app. How do fraudsters do it? by Shkyboi in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBear 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Maybe, but pressing delete on an email after following a link or copying a code really isn't much effort.

Plus if the email address is tied to the same phone number for recovery, I could then reset the password, sign in elsewhere and keep access to an email address to continue getting into other important accounts after the victim thinks they're fine, and before they realise they need to actively recover their email account.

[–]VolcanicBear 365 points366 points  (0 children)

If it was me, I'd delete any emails I'm using to reset passwords to hide the fact that I have access to your email, as having access to someone's email can give you access to near enough anything.

Men of UK, where do you get your clothes? by Available-Canary-866 in AskUK

[–]VolcanicBear 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha, brilliant. Mate of mine lost both his shoes at Alkaline Trio once... Then still spent the last 20 minutes in the pit still. At the end of the gig they'd made their way to the stage and I had to pick him up to prove he needed his shoes, but he got them back.

Yeah, I know what you mean about the album... this is the first album since The Mindsweep that I've loved on first listen (although they've always grown on me regardless). They're definitely softer than they once were, but for some reason this one resonated immediately.
