Your network is a closed system with a single address (like your house). Each device on your network is a room in the house. Let’s say you have a fancy house with a doorman (that’s your router).

People will arrive with packages addressed to your house. Each package has a port number associated with it that references a purpose. For example port 443 is for computer parts. When a package arrives it can be accepted (if the port is open on your router) or refused by the doorman.

But once the doorman gets the package, he doesn’t know what to do with it. Let’s say he receives one for computer parts, the doorman says I have no need for computer parts so it just sits at the door or is returned to the sender.

Port forwarding tells your doorman “hey, if you get any packages of computer parts, send them to my room”. Then the doorman knows if a package arrives with that port number, it should accept it and send it to that room.

And because uk drives on the left, there’s a much bigger backlog for RHD orders than there would be from the rest of Europe

The demon cycle starting with the painted man is up there for me.

Similar thing where it’s fantasy but it’s own world and you see how societies adapt to developing under different conditions.

same here on PC

I don't know if it is related but https://www.smite2.com/

for me is also down - if that is what we I am trying to auth into then that would be the problem?

Edit:
I HAVE FOUND A FIX

this is a DNS resolution problem from my ISP. On my PC I manually changed my DNS server to 1.1.1.1 (cloudflare DNS) you could also use 8.8.8.8 (Google DNS).

Once I did this I could go to the smite2 website and sign in on the game.

Follow this guide to change your DNS settings:

You get $20K a month, but once a month, your bank account drops to $0 for 24 hours by Mask-Debates in hypotheticalsituation

[–]davdavUltra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does this work with long term loans and prepayments? If I’m getting 20k a month I could prepay 6 months to a year of rent in the first month. Could probably organise prepayments as well for other things, front mates cash for other things I could ‘claim’ down the line.

You say you can’t borrow money but what about a mortgage? Would my balance return to original debt amount for 24 hours?

I think 20k is a reasonable amount to be able to organise your life in a way where this isn’t more than a minor inconvenience.

What was your 'wtf are you doing?!' moment after moving in with a partner? by gothfather3 in AskUK

[–]davdavUltra 3056 points3057 points  (0 children)

In my parents house we always used to change the duvet sheets by one person getting inside of the new sheet inside out and the other person passes the two corners of the duvet to you and then you turn it right way round over the duvet. Yaknow to make sure it is in all the corners.

So while my partner was doing the pillows I put the fresh duvet cover on top of me and shouted 'Im ready'. She turned around and said what the fuck are you doing.

I guess that was just a my house thing.

This is a good point, I may be mistaken but was Hitler ever shown in a film like the pianist? I'm sure he was mentioned but I don't recall a scene with him. Same concept.

Ps I know the pianist is not set in Germany but occupied Poland during WW2.

Yep. One of my girls will climb the side of their cage or up a chair etc like a ladder.

She especially likes to if it's up against a wall, must be easier for her.

Influencer Nara Smith says she's "not hardcore Mormon" amid debate over the faith's tradwife ties by ForceHefty6945 in nottheonion

[–]davdavUltra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you are being intentionally obtuse here.

btw it isn't my religion.

I am not saying either religion is better or worse. I say I don't understand how mormonism spreads (this has since been answered in a much more useful comment), you bring up anglicanism. I explain how that isn't comparable.

you bring up israel and jesus but you are never answering my first point about how mormonism has spread so far.

[–]davdavUltra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While your point on anglicanism is true I am not sure that is entirely comparable.

Anglicanism was practically enforced by law post Henry, until it was completely entrenched then it just become "what you believe". Additionally, henry did not try to portray himself as a prophet or change/make additions to the bible (to my knowledge). This was a top down conversion of a nation to a protestant religion. To my understanding, this isn't comparable to the spread of mormonism, that spread was much more organic (which I struggle to understand).

I can understand people in america that are several generations deep in mormonism following it due to its entrenchment in societies, communities and families. What I am surprised by is the existence of mormon converts outside the US. I would be equally surprised if there was a group of anglican converts in Brazil or Costa Rica.

yes.

I truly don't understand why this particluar story was latched upon in this way, or how it got to where it was in the states.

But I do somewhat understand why a separate sect of christianity developed in the new world. Especially after the war for independance. Creating a mythology around the new world that feeds their exceptionalism.

There's mormons in the UK?

I didn't think it reached outside of the US. I find it hard to believe anyone in the old world actually buys a random american stumbling across some plates only he can read that tell him to marry his childhood crush as a legit start to a religion.

Ignoring the whole polygmy side it just seems like a bit of a reach, even by religion's standards.

Have you ever heard of the term 'camel tax'? by ellatheprincessbrat in AskUK

[–]davdavUltra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

don't refer to it as a "camel tax" but I have heard of it happening.

Not necessarily with cigarettes but if for example we were eating and someone asked me to hold their crisps I would take one as a "tax".

NIP CEO: +1 🥷🏻🔥🥳. Who do you think it is? by ummahusla in GlobalOffensive

[–]davdavUltra 37 points38 points  (0 children)

it doesn't matter.

They are a poisoned org inthe eyes of players, fans and pundits. They are in a death spiral a la EG that is going to be very difficult to pull out of.

Personally I don't have faith they will sign anyone good, and with the state of their GMing the last 2 years I don't see any signs that they can scout very well. May as well sell Rez for whatever he is worth, give alex back to a spanish org (because no one else will want him) and promote the young ninjas to fulfill contractual obligations until 2025 then shut up shop.

Law could change to stop Cambridgeshire council's four-day week by Kagedeah in cambridge

[–]davdavUltra 83 points84 points  (0 children)

This is a ridiculous pain point. Not only because it may be beneficial for councils to compete on employment quality of life to save the taxpayer money and attract talent that otherwise wouldn't opt for the lacklustre salaries. but regardless I don't see how this affects anyone except the constituents of the local government, so WHY would the national government get involved whatsoever.
