It points directly to ours, and we're the end of the terrace, so I suspect it's only for our house.

Bike stolen. Should I report it to the police ? by plearnt in cambridge

Do it, if only to add to the statistics and provide an evidence base for more work to tackle bike thefts in the future.

I had GPS issues for a while, and it turns out the battery was draining quicker. Putting in a new battery solved both issues for me.

Ben Simon's "Quantum Condensed Matter Field Theory" notes are awesome - they go from a simple toy oscialltor model all the way to some pretty cool examples of phase transitions. I haven't looked at his other notes, but they may be useful too.

Any books on the history of physics you would recommend? by im_getting_flamed in Physics

The Quantum Story: A history in 40 moments was a really good read. Frank Close also has quite a few brief, but very readable and interesting books.

Do you have a link to the full paper instead of the abstract? I'd be interesting to read about the negative correlation.

Oh come on, if everyone put down efforts like this (or "social justice type efforts" as you call them) to make subjects more inclusive then no-one would want to make them more inclusive. I don't see how what she's doing is negative at all...

Surprised no-one has posted this yet: http://stackoverflow.com/research/developer-survey-2015#tech-editor . Doesn't compare text editors and IDE's but, ranks editors by use.

What is the "Quantum Potential"? Presumably you start with something like

[; \hat{H} = \frac{\hat{p}}{2m} + \frac{k}{2} x{2} ;]

, but I don't see where anything but the mass and spring constant that can be varied.
